Is this opposites day? Or we just saying funny things?
Expensive squad doesn't equate a good squad. Players flop and are bought for potential.
A new manager? So every time a club gets a new manager they should challenge?
Silly.
Surely that is the point of a new manager at a club who spend like Chelsea?
You finished 3rd in 21/22, reached both domestic finals all while getting to QF in CL.
Without CL you should do even better domestically.
In practicality it doesn't work like that. From our CL winning team we have 3 players left.
It's quite evidently a transition period for the club.
For example a joint chelsea/arsenal team would have like 2/3 chelsea players in max.
We will not be challenging. Especially this man city team. Silly to suggest otherwise.
About £200 million recouped in player sales so far this window and counting. Doubt that figure gets banded about too much as it's far too positive for the media. They'd rather keep telling everyone Mudryk is an £85 million player when in actuality we paid closer to £60 million for him.
We wont be challenging at all, a Europa place is as much as we can hope for.
The outgoings are needed for sure but there is alot of talent walking out the door,
the internal structure is a mess
I'm not convinced of poch i think he will be in trouble early on and come xmas with our october run he will be under alot of pressure. I just dont think he's good enough in all honesty. Hes certainly not winning anything with us.
Mentality has been an issue and that will take a long time to embed which will come with squad analysis and player aquisitions
my confidence in boehly and the current chelsea squad is in the basement and with a former spurs man at the helm I think its going to be a frustrating season.

Yeah, funny isn't it. And no mention how arsenal are top of the net spend for the last 5 years. Arsenal really need to start winning something to show a return on the investment.
Agree about not challenging. A europa and cup run would be good (hopefully dont get man city in the first round of both cups this time).
I am quite optimistic about poch though and also dont agree a lot of talent are leaving. just kante and slightly mount I am going to miss.

How well were Arsenal challenging when they got the 3 new managers after Wingher?
Unai Emery - flopped
Freddie Ljungberg - flopped
Mikel Arteta - flopped

Arsenal have not played in the Champions League since the 2016/17, you havent mustered any challenge till 6 seasons later.
You talk some proper sheite
Yeah I won't miss any of the players we're moving on. Kante barely played in the last year due to injury so you can't really miss a player who essentially wasn't here last season. Mount was crap last season and looked like he didn't want to be here so again can't really miss that either.
We should finish top 4 next season without any European football. Anything less and it's a big failure. The season after we should be competing for the title. Otherwise the owners have massively furrrked up, sacking Tuchel and selling all our players just to end up taking us backwards.
Agree or disagree with how the new owners are going about the restructuring - transition- rebuild , ect. ect.
They are stamping their mark on the club, to such an extent they are willing to dismantle the spine & move on players such as Mount , Kovatic, & Havertz. Whilst also loosing Kante & Azpilicueta.
It is happening, this window is going very well from the perspective:
That the club will have met its current 3 season loss & profit FFP responsibility.
Closure today 30/06/23:
Restructured the payroll:
Determined to remove all & any dead wood:
They have given Poch a highly talented, young , but inexperienced squad to mould.
? they will have to give him time.
But how long can the club go without C/L football ?
The absence of C/L football brings with it two issues,
1: A 100m loss of revenue
2: Difficulty in signing the best players, & if we do we will pay over the odds ( whats new ?)
As far as the spending goes, the only thing which is relevant is revenue and cash flow.
The ownership are money people , from their actions to date, they seem to be confident enough to spend, which i assume means that are confident of income revenue.
Imo , i think they will want to pull all of the stops out to get that 4th place this season, which i assume will equate to them continuing to spend in this window.
The issue looking at the clubs around us , they all have the more settled squads, tweaking opposed to transition.
So all in all it more than likely will take us two seasons to get back into a C/L status, if Poch hits the ground running and the squad gels.
As far as challenging that is way way off
COY Blues- KTBFFH:
Lets face it , its going to be a exciting season !
Point:
No C/L European will help us, we can focuss on that 4th place finish:
Why should we definitely finish top four when there are so many top clubs in really strong positions vying for the Champions League places ? Arsenal have now strengthened massively after an overall excellent season and you have the likes of Newcastle as a new powerhouse. We have absolutely no god given right to finish top four and after last season's horror showing we shouldn't expect anything. We'll have to fight for every inch.
Of course we have no god given right, but the clubs finances & the people who have just spent 2.5 bln on buying the club and another 600m in two windows , will be reliant on C/L football due to revenue.
The people who have bought Cfc are Investment bankers, they are not a group of footballing supporters who are going to run the club as a charity, or a sports washing enterprise.
It is all about the money for these guys.
They have an aim, it requires investment.
Will they succeed ? it's football ?
We won’t be finishing behind United next season. Probably Arsenal but their second half of 22/23 with standard top 4 level so they aren’t a sure thing either.
We’re going to be much much better than we were last year. All comes down to getting the right level of quality into those positions along the spine.
Seems like Ziyech isn’t going after all
Lot of talk about finishing top 4 but doesn't 5th get a CL spot next season?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You went from a spending club buying in players not heard off thanks to Wengers knowledge, players that went on to become household names. You were winning things and had everything going for you including a brand new state of the art stadium to struggling to compete for 20 years. I don't expect us to take 20 years to recover but Arsenal fans should know more than most there are no guarantees for anyone.
Im not sure you guys are seeing the bigger picture.
we are signing players on low wages and youth players. this means that we wont compete at the top of the market anymore.
Further more the other big clubs particularly in the prem will be able to snap up and offer those wages so I fear we essentially will become a selling club. A lcub for profit.
I think the idea is to hoover up talent for cheap run their course and sell on for big money later down the line meaning we will never be at the top table
Enzo for instance will double his wages anywhere else, you think hes going to hang around?
Mount is an example of this
Ted Moult, he had a brilliant window. That feather dropped straight down.
Though many of us do not believe we will get top four right now we don't know what will happen. Pre season and a couple of months into the season and our expectations could worsen or improve.
The club though will be aiming for higher than 4th.
Season ticket arrived this morning so I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out.
