That fax machine is a real sliding doors moment.
I wonder what would have happened had he gone and we signed a more pro-active keeper then?
He's been a great player for us. Best shot stopper in the world and one of the best keepers at his peak.
It's definitely time to move on now.
I'd agree with 17/18 as his best season and favourite save is probably the late one from Aguero in the 2-3 at the Etihad in 18/19.
Remember him stealing doughnuts from tesco (or something along those lines)?

It's funny because I liked him more after th=the broken fax. No complaints, just settled down to be part of the team and do his best. Plus he was a terrific keeper.

I think he just wanted to practise communicating with donuts at home so his relationship and understanding with our defenders would improve.

Spent my time considering just why signing such an obvious clown was was one of SAF's weirdest decisions. And can only find one logical conclusion and one less rational one.
Either he decided the best way to enhance his legacy was to stymie as many of the subsequent coaches/managers as possible = "hey look, I told you I was the real difference".
Or, he asked Mrs SAF to make as daft a suggestion as possible, with the promise that he would carry it out, as some kind of intra-marriage joke.

Mad that such a poor keeper featured in the PFA team of the year on 5 occasions. I wonder how SAF managed to get all of the players that voted for him in on the joke?
IAmMe gonna have to reinvent his wum approach if DDG goes

Favourite save for me was the fk from Mata, thought that was in as soon as he hit it.
Ridiculously good keeper at his best and those best seasons had very few errors, great servant and one of our best ever gk. Deserved to play in a much better United team and set up than he has, no wonder he’s been our player of the year so often.
Not the right keeper for our current manager or the way the game has gone though and the right time to move on definitely, but hope he gets a move he is happy with somewhere and continues to excel at the right team.

That was the one I thought of too mate. Great save. When I think of Schmeichel I think of the one low to his right that he tipped over the bar against Rapid Vienne. With De Gea its the save against Mata. With Taibi it is Le Tissier's dribbler that went through his legs.
I'll never forget as long as I live the arsenal perfomance, don't know what year it was, but watching it in a pub, and arsenal should have won by about 5 goals and utd ended up winning. Was maybe the best keeping perfomance ive seen in the PL.
Think it waas the 2017 game that people have mentioned
His expected saves stats are actually some of the worst in the league in the past 30 years lol. The saves he makes he is expected to make, he just makes them look more spectacular. I remember 34 minutes, 23 seconds and 52 milliseconds in to Fulham away on 14th April 2017 he parried a ball instead of catching it which cost us the league that year. That and poor finishing. If you subtract our unexpected goals conceded stat from our expected goals scored stats then we are currently at 2.76 with De Gea in the team and 1.76 with De Gea out of the team which shows that we are conceding more with him in the team but also scoring less as our forwards lack confidence with him behind them in the team lol. De Gea leaving and Kane coming in should mean we will have the highest combined expected goals scored + expected saves made in the league and should be the difference between 2nd and 1st next season if TAA stays fit for Liverpool as he has the highest expected assists against defending from the wing for Liverpool.
