Well it didn’t take long for Don & Strike to start did it🤔
Firstly, we have been in negotiations for CB’s which unless you have been going around with your eyes shut you would have read about.
Personal terms have been agreed with two of them and it just remains to agree fees with their clubs. Plus the players we are going for are also being tracked by other clubs, so that will inevitably slow things down. Also remember contact with some players will be limited as they will be on holiday.
Why wouldn’t the Club take Dier & Sanchez on tour, a) they are still Spurs players b) Ange needs to look at them anyway. c) we were not able to talk to clubs until June 14th, and foreign based players July 1st.
d) the window closes on September 1st, so just over another 6 weeks to complete movements in and out.
e) which is vastly important to who we sign, is moving out players that Ange judges as superfluous going forward🤔👍
The latest ITK suggests we have agreed terms with both Tapsoba and VDV, but only one of them is likely and Tapsoba is the preferred option, but we are still trying to low ball Leverkusen over the fee. VDV is all agreed and ready to go when we want to. Signing both is not out if the question but depends on outgoings.
The question is, why the fack are we not bringing in both these players as a matter of urgency, both players would be vital to our squad. Why not bring them both in and worry about shifting deadwood later.
Other clubs do not slash about with their recruitment, Woolwich for example have just spent £210m in cold blood, and Spurs are now making more revenue than they are.
VDV in my opinion is a must, will become a regular in Dutch team for the next decade. Compared to Verthongen in style but also has electrifying pace.
Tapsoba is a great player who we would potentially lose for two months in January/February due to AFCON being held then. Also it is rumoured he would like a CL club 🤔
I would like Guehl from Palace and also the young lad from Fulham Adarabioyo. Both have good Premier experience and would add to HG players.
VDV sounds ideal for Ange with his pace and youth. Maybe he could fill in one of the full back positions the way Verts used to.
Get him in and the other one we're linked to before the pre-season and it's looking like a really good window already (on paper), leaving a trimming of the squad and the Kane situation as the only things we have to worry about.
