If they were both circa £30-40 each, then it would be a no brainer. Proven at PL level, and both are internationals with valuable experience. In Ange system though, neither would suit.

Keeper needs to have good distribution and defender able to push up and leave gap behind but have pace to recover.
Maguire does not have pace and DG does not distribute the ball well, so unlikely to be targets imo.

Basically I would but not in Ange system

We’re getting rid of a keeper who can’t play with the ball at his feet, why would you want to sign another?

Maguire would’ve been a great signing for you under any of your previous few managers, not now though.

De Gea is more capable of howlers than Lloris ever was and would command a big wage and want first team football. I'd rather give this Vicario a go, keep Forster as the back up and bring in another young keeper if we need one.

I actually didn't realise Maguire was as old as 30. I guess if he was cheap enough and Ange was interested it would be ok, so long as we brought in a younger, better option (VDV) as well.

I’d have assumed our new keeper is coming in as first choice, so personally I’d leave DDG alone even in a free - wages would be very high and not sure he’s the best at what Ange wants.

HM - no hate, I think there’s a good defender in there. He was very good at Leicester and his first season at United. But, again, doesn’t appear to be an Ange type player.

Depends what style of football you’re playing. They aren’t bad players like has been made out, but you can’t play a high line with them
