I’ll add Gold by Spandau
Not sure if anyone ever watched the BBC Sitcom called White Gold but it had a banging 80s soundtrack.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
White Gold is immense. Brilliantly written, acted and scored. One of my favourite ever sitcoms.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyday I pray for a series 3 🥺
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same. That programme is bloody amazing.
For another grate 80’s soundtrack, few are better than The Business.
Going back to the OP - on that Wham docco it was striking to see just how amazing the charts were back then. Each and every song was a classic in the top 10.
I’m not one of those people who thinks modern day is rubbish but I don’t think we’ll ever see an era of non stop classics like we did in the 80s.

(I just had a look and "Dave" is #1, an artist who I think is at the top of their game).

With each passing year it gets harder and harder to actually come up with an entirely original song.
Anyone who says creativity in music is dead should check this out... And this is an artist (Fred Again) who gets plenty of airplay on Radio 1 and at least blurs the line between dance and pop, if not outright pop.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iQmPv_dTI0
That’s why I re-qualified as chart/mainstream music. Ren is also making extremely original music but he’s independent and not mainstream at all.

(Verse 1)
In the stadium lights, the crowd's on their feet,
They're waiting for Fred to bring the heat.
He's a footballer with a magic touch,
But consistency is something he lacks so much.
(Pre-Chorus)
One game he's a star, the next he's a flop,
A rollercoaster ride, can't make it stop.
He'll score a screamer, a goal so divine,
But most times he sends it wide of the line.
(Chorus)
Contractual Row Z Thundertwaat,
Fred's got a talent that he can't quite flaunt.
With a flick of his foot, he'll amaze us all,
But the next moment, he'll hit the wall.
(Verse 2)
The fans hold their breath as the ball leaves his boot,
Hoping this time he'll be resolute.
He dribbles past defenders, a flash of skill,
But then he'll trip over his own feet, oh what a thrill.
(Pre-Chorus)
The pundits debate his enigmatic style,
Some call him a genius, others revile.
But in the end, it's just the luck of the draw,
Will Fred's brilliance shine or will it withdraw?
(Chorus)
Contractual Row Z Thundertwaat,
Fred's got a talent that he can't quite flaunt.
With a flick of his foot, he'll amaze us all,
But the next moment, he'll hit the wall.
(Bridge)
Oh, Fred, you're a puzzle we can't solve,
Your brilliance and blunders, we'll never evolve.
But we'll keep cheering you on, no matter what,
Hoping one day you'll find that missing strut.
(Chorus)
Contractual Row Z Thundertwaat,
Fred's got a talent that he can't quite flaunt.
With a flick of his foot, he'll amaze us all,
But the next moment, he'll hit the wall.
(Outro)
So, here's to Fred, the enigma on the field,
With every game, uncertainty revealed.
We'll always remember the moments he's great,
And embrace the times he tests our faith.
