‘ explain why ..... they look at the numbers, they are doing so for advertisement so its about how many eyes see that sponsorship. I dont really see why it matters what club those viewers are from?’

I think I have.

No one is going to broadcast all the games because there’s little interest outside of the OF. Teams up here won’t want it either because there’s a risk of a fall off for season tickets.

It’s only the 4 OF games that bring in decent viewing numbers as far as I’m aware. There’s not big numbers for our away games-not compared to the EPL games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
they broadcast plenty of games in Denmark that dont get high figures at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But they’ll have more than 2 teams that share the audience.

If they go out the game, they won’t be concentrating on anything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
they wont need to or care if they honoured the deal they signed which they have done.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then what happens when the deal runs out?! You’re not considering the fact that they might have overpaid.

for eg......????

there are teams in the danish league that have smaller fanbases than our teams .... smaller attendances and tv viewers.

Motherwell for eg are mid level in our league ..... and have similar attendance levels and fanbases are the teams in Denmark do. Ross County would be a top half attended team in Denmark.

Hibs Hearts, Aberdeen would be the highest attended games and watched in Denamrk by comparison.

So they get similar attendances but all their games are shown live?

You’re answering your own question then.

We have 2 marketable teams and that’s it. Even in Scotland, if a game being shown on terrestrial telly doesn’t have the OF playing (possibly with the exception of an edinburgh derby) then there’s little to no interest.

I’ll repeat what I said earlier-I don’t think it’s a great deal, but I think there’s some fair mitigating circumstances.

posted on 19/7/23

Pretty sure I’ve read that we have the highest attendance per capita for football in Europe. That’s clearly skewed by OF fans.

no they get lesser attendances.

Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen would be the biggest clubs in Denmark in terms of fanbase, attendances and viewers. Aberdeen were the 5th highest attended team in our league and would be the highest in the danish league.

Motherwell were the 98th highest attended team in our league last year .... they would be a top half supported team in Denmark in comparison.

Our league was attended by almost twice the amount of that attended the danish league last year.

If you remove the Old firm from the attendance figures the our league still has more people attending than the danish league does.

Average attendance at games last season was 16,924. Take out the OF home games and it’s 9,330-and how many of those games were boosted by OF fans…

you tell me ?? not as much as you think would be my guess?

Like I said take the old firm outwith the equation and our league still had a better attendance.

including the Old firm its more than double the figures Denmark sees

The average danish attendance was 10,282.

And if you don’t think other teams average attendance is affected by OF games, then I don’t think you’re being realistic.

Think you can work that out for yourself. Go to a team, take out our games and you’ll be able to work it from there?!

But a cursory glance at most teams would show how it would affect it.

I’ve no idea then-but that first link says they only played 22 games, so I think we can discount that for accuracy.

I can repeat over and over-there are far more mitigating factors.

You can keep arguing with yourself about how attractive our league is.

its in average amount though it wont really be affected by the number of games.

the link you gave said Copenhagen had average attendances of 38k, 25k and 5k.

All the links I gave had the same amount of 9,923 so seems most plausible to me. I looked at about 6 sites that all said the 9,923 figure and used the same sites to compare with scottish and our were higher.

Our league not counting the OFs figures is higher than Denmarks, and when you include the OF its more than double.

its one of the worst football tv deals I have seen we have just now. and as I said the worst thing is right now is where it will be at it strongest. I predict by the end of our deal we will be getting paid less per year than the likes of the Romanian leagues!!

‘the link you gave said Copenhagen had average attendances of 38k, 25k and 5k.’

No it doesn’t?! It says an average of just shy of 29k, with their highest attendance being just under 39k?!

If we use your number of 9,923 then our average attendance was 16,924. That’s not double. And excluding the OF, it was 9,330-that’s near the same.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
im not saying how attractive our league is ... im comparing the amount of sponsorship/tv rights the league brings in comparison to our peers. peers that we have better resources than and more interest.

Just to add onto the attendance levels and eyes on our league argument. Our league is ranked about the 9th best league in the europe and our league is ranked 21st in terms of money brought in per season from tv rights. and is the 7th best attended league in europe.

and we just signed this deal.

also your argument is the leagues are not the same or our is not better. on the basis that if you exclude the OF the two leagues are equal and if you include the OF its a good bit stronger and better
