Good article but poor use of 'juxtaposition'
I know I did acknowledge that in the next sentence.
But yeah massive summer for us
Club could have probably got away with maybe Caceido to replace Xhaka and that would have been considered a solid window
Instead we've gone all guns blazing and spent £200m before August.
It's been great - but we need to go #AllIn and spend £75m+ on a CF.

Arteta so clearly likes GJ there
Absolutely no chance you challenge for the title or hit over 75 points
Not with CL Meke

You sprung a surprise this season with a fresh attack, more teams will be use to it now like they were in the 2nd part of the season and you won’t have nearly as much success. Plus CL distraction, not that I think you’ll go massively far but it’s still 2 games a week. Think Newcastle & Arsenal both struggle but you should be good enough to make 4th and 72-75 points

I think you're getting us mixed up with a small team like Leicester or Liverpool.
We have the most dynamic, youthful and talented roster in pro football right now.
If it wasn't for injuries we would have coasted to the PL title last season, ahead of a team that is objectively one of the best ever. Think about it. City 22/23 were one of the best teams ever... and we were better than them (before the key injury to Saliba).
CL isn't a distraction anyway, we're bigger than the CL and will pay it minimal attention (but probably still win it because all we do is win, check our results in other sports).
Oscar is a facking idiot. Imagine making Liquid look like he has a clue 😂😂
Go and play with the Palace and Fulham fans, Oscar, they are more your clubs level.
Good article, Tu. I hadn't really considered the differing ways the transfer windows went after the seasons mentioned. The way the 2 sets of players reacted to disappointment seem to contrast massively too - 2007/2008 squad giving in to it, whilst the 2022/2023 squad appear to be finding renewed strength from it!
For me, the Rice signing is a much bigger statement of intent than the Ozil signing. As exciting as that was, it was almost fortuitous, really. Real were looking to sell him, no other clubs seemed particularly fussed about signing him, and though we didn't really 'need' Mesut Ozil either, Arsene was hardly going to turn his nose up given the opportunity to bring him in.
Declan Rice, however, is not only a player we need, but a seriously good player who, as you say, many other big clubs were eager to sign.
Add to that the positive sounds coming out about Arteta from players that might be surplus to requirements next season... it's pretty exciting tbh.

50 quid to a charity of the winners choice?
Oscar Vs Liquid is like homer Simpson Vs Peter Griffin.
Homo Simpleton vs Petey Guffing
Statement of intent to pay nearly 3 times what a player is worth.

There was just a lack of belief around the club in the early Emirates years. The media were constantly briefed that we had no money and we had that God awful reputation of only aiming for top 4. It was the reality of the financial landscape of the time, so it's not exactly anybody's fault. It was all on Wenger to convince the masses, as the players were like his sons, as opposed to investors in his project.
But Wenger had certainly lost his transfer mojo without David dein. He still signed some great talents but there was a "here we go again" tiredness with which he assembled a squad, as the players who did come good facked off to Barca or city.
The club's reputation took a huge hit in those years. All culminating when we sold van persie to man utd. We were just about clinging on to top club status at that point, but that transfer sealed it. We were a laughing stock.
Arteta has brought the mojo back, people see us as a serious club now. I just hope we can bag one of the big trophies while he's here.

Was van dijk worth 75m at the time?
Was Allison worth 70m at the time?
Clearly not. But they've been so good that nobody really talks about the fees.
So by your logic you already admit that Rice isn't worth what you're paying and he will have to perform to VVD and Allison levels year after year to justify the fee. VVD and Allison have been world class for us. VVD came second to Messi in the Balon d'or and Allison arguably been the best keeper in the world. Piece of cake for Rice.

I think Declan rice is an excellent player that will have a transformative effect on the team similar to van dijk and Allison.
And yes, 100 million is overpaying, but teams do that for a player they believe will be key to success.
