Thank God we’ve now got a manager who at least gives out an air of authority and confidence for the season ahead because we have a mountain to climb. In the 55 years I’ve been supporting this team I’ve never known a more chaotic and uncertain pre-season - partly due to the bizarre loan clauses that have seemingly been written into Orta’s signings. I can’t possibly imagine what the mood must be like among the squad at the moment when so many of them are either going or trying to go. I’ve no doubt we have enough talent in the squad to at least hold our own in the Championship - but I think Farke’s biggest challenge is creating unity and a sense of purpose among the players. In this respect, retaining the veterans Coops, Ayling and Dallas could be vital for the process of bonding, morale and team spirit.
Let me answer your questions
1. Cresswell will be our number 1 centre back, no doubt Coops will tutor him through, my only concern is that they both play on the same side. I am not expecting you to know anything about Charlie, as we all know you pay very little attention to the youth set up at the club. People say he had an up and down season at Millwall last season, this isn't the case, he took a while to break through given the established pairing he was up against but Millwall looked a lot better when he was playing, conceded very few goals and their challenge fell away when he had his eye socket injury.
2. Because he has been around for ever, people forget that Leo is still only 19, he had a reasonable half season on loan but looked very raw at the weekend. We need to recruit, squad player.
3. Shackleton's agent has apparently said he doesn't expect him to be at the club next season, speaks volumes that Millwall passed on the option to buy him. Works hard but he is clearly never going to step up. Leeds boy so a lot on here give the benefit of the doubt.
4. Drameh - really is a case of whether he wants to stay, if he does he will start, he will be pretty much an ever present and will be player of the season contender. I am expecting him to move on cos he is better than we can offer him and there will be Lower half premier league teams sniffing around.
5. We will bring in a keeper and Klaesson will move on.
6. Gelhardt - went backwards under Marsch, true test of DF's coaching ability, as you know I raved about him but I haven't seen the same player for over a year. This is his make or break year. At the moment I don't see a future for him. Very sad.
7. Poveda needs to move on. Don't think Farke sees a player there.
I thought Shackleton looked quite tidy on Saturday when he played. He would make a decent squad player as there are 7 subs this season and he plays in a few positions. Cant see the point in signing Byram and letting Shackleton leave although he probably needs to be playing first team somewhere by now.
Cresswell, Hjelde, Joffy and Drameh should be first team squad. I think Joffy has played out of position which hasnt done him any favours. He is a decent number 10 playing behind a main striker. I don't see him as a number 9.
I'm not sure about the GK situation as you'd have thought we'd need to ship Meslier out before bringing anyone in and no one seems interested in him that we can see.
Poveda and Costa are long gone.
Bate is still very raw, another loan most likely.

Cresswell plays right
Cooper plays left
Cresswell has a chance at present as he and Mullen are our only RCB at the club but some managers are happy with 2 left/right footers.
Cmon Lorra it’s bad but it’s nowhere near the Bates admin days when we didn’t have official confirmation we could start the season until a few days before it kicked off and we had 6 players attached to the club. Folk were leaving shirts scarves etc at Billy’s statue as the club was almost dead.

Ha yes Kebab, I must have blocked out the Bates era - I take your point. But the fact that (if you believe the reports) half our squad are in limbo and seemingly looking for something better can not be good for morale. I’m sure once the season gets started things will settle down. We do need to splash some cash but in Farke we must trust. MOT
I expect a new CB signing, Nat Philips possibly, and then we have Cresswell, Mullen, Cooper, Struiyk plus Ayling as a last resort who can play there and not forgetting Ampadu who can also do a job there.
I would say that Struiyk is the most inconsistent one of that bunch and he certainly needs to make a big improvement on his performance levels if and when selected or he along with Shackleton and a few others on the fringe will be shown the door.
Also I know it's stating the bleeding obvious but without a new striker signing we have no chance of a top 2 spot and slim odds on making the play offs so that is the area I'm most concerned about as it's goals that get you up and what we have left at the club is no where near good enough unless Joseph is the new messiah I hope behind the scenes Farke is using all his skills to aquire a championship predator similar to how he spotted Puki at Norwich.

Yes, and let's finally get a LB ffs!
this is time of pre season where players are bonding, families socialising and that is so hard to happen when people dont know if they're coming and going.
Some want to go and can't.
Some want to stay and are being touted.
Some see all of that and are unsure.
Very difficult for Farke to bring them all together and that's if he has 100% authority.
It could be that in 2 weeks we've brought in 3 decent players with more on the way.
I would rather we bought less, but quality than random volume of signings.
If we haven't brought in a decent signing or 2 this week. Not Byram., not academy player, not someone already injured then things looking up, otherwise then I will really start to worry.
Although slightly alarming, I'm refusing to get too concerned until this week has passed.
Could look a little different come next Monday.
If the player in's / outs is still the same next week, basically disadvantageous, then my frustration will start to ferment.
Must be honest and state another 'This could only happen at leeds' (loans fiasco with no incoming value this season), is yet another addition for the 'lets all laugh at Leeds' brigade to gloat at - Never has the cliche 'You couldn't make it up' been so apt.
Has any bright spark managed to glean roughly what our FFP is as it stands right now? ( based on no further incoming pennies.)
Must admit have been trying to square /ascertain 49ers role and powers pre Radz leaving.
Question - As 44% holders were they technically sleeping partners with absolutely no executive powers or not?
Secondly I read they stopped/objected to Harrison to Leicester in January which seems to suggest they had a modicum of suthority?
Rev, for the Harrison farce I think they had to pay something like 17m to keep him, I might be wrong on the exact figure but it wasn't cheap!..
And that farce suggests to me they didn't have much to say!..
I really want to think shack could make it at the club.
You could see there was a player there, his movement and awareness were great on him.
Then he was constantly played out of position and had loads of injuries and it just hampered him.
Speaks volumes that certain members of our squad aren't involved in any transfer rumours whatsoever.
The situation isn't good at the minute & the noises coming from Phil Hay about Wober pushing for his move are especially discouraging for a couple of reasons.
Firstly the lad is an excellent centre-half & would have been a huge asset in the Championship. Secondly he was one who allegedly proclaimed just a couple of weeks ago he was happy to stay.
Where we end up if we lose Willy, Sinisterra & Adams I fear to think.
Genuinely dreading that our line-up for Cardiff will be made up of mainly expensive misfits & spoiled brats who clearly no longer wish to be at the club.
