Totally agree.... Love Jimmy but time is catching up with him. I suspect he'll retire after the Ashes. Ses no point him going on a tour to India to play on flat/spinning tracks.
England need to be focusing on Wood, Tongue, Robinson, Woakes & Jofra/ Stokes (if they can ever stay fit). They could also do with developing an effective spinner too.
If he can’t take a wicket in the current conditions, and he’s not looking likely, then he should probably pack it in. Up to him though, and the selectors. True legend whatever he decides.
I hope he retires, it’s not fitting to be dropped after such a stellar career.
I doubt he'd announce his retirement, mid-session on the last day of a test series.
I expect that Jimmy Anderson will announce his Test Cricket retirement when the Ashes are finished. Perhaps he wanted to leave Stuart Broad to take the accolades first as Jimmy's achievements overshadow Stuart's.
He will hopefully retire now but maybe next year latest
He was interviewed on Sky and was hinting he still has the hunger and wants to go away and work on his bowling after this series.
So it appears he is keen to carry on.
Just because he's still active doesn't mean he has to be picked.
He needs to reach 700 wickets first.
He probably won't go to India, but those 6 easy tests next summer against West indies & Sri Lanka, he might get the send off he richly deserves, very, very ordinary series from Jimmy...
