England & Australia docked points

They still get there yearly contractual wage which is separate to the modest match fees. Slow over rate is inexcusable and the punishment is just a slap on the wrist.

ICC need to bring in new measure like docking runs for slow over rates. 5 runs docked for every over missed.

But the over rate is a prejudged amount of overs

Yes it’s adjusted for rain or bad light but it’s not adjusted if you’re having to fish the ball out of the crowd constantly or if the batting team deliberately delay you being able to bowl (which the Aussies did a lot in Manchester)

I agree with the intent but England are about trying to win rapidly these days so the fact they lost 95% of their match fee for “deliberately slowing the game down” is stupid

They may not have won the ashes, but such deduction in points is only favourable to India. Guaranteed they’ll get a final spot.

Point deduction is ridiculous for me. 5 runs deducted sounds about right with a match ban for the captain. Also, is it just in England this is a problem or elsewhere??

There has to be more leeway in England. The wicket is for the pacers who take longer to complete the over unlike in Asia where you can have 3 spinners working in tandem and much quicker over rate.

Comparing old format of 90 overs where there were no DRS ,no catching reviews and no boundary checking with modern cricket also needs looking at…. .reduce them to around 85 over

Point reduction is ridiculous, just have it so that you get a 5-10 run penalty for every over missed.

EG If England only bowled 82 out of the 90 overs the penalty would be max - 8 over - 80 Runs. (obviously the umpires would decide the total overs as u might have had a head injury or wicket issues ect.

Maybe only deduct points if the game is a draw? What's the problem if there is a result?

That's a big penalty for minor offence. Its every thing to do with India since they have more spinners hence less chance of going slow

Baseball now has a pitch clock where the pitcher has to start the next delivery in a predetermined number of seconds after the end of the last play. The number of time differs depending on the situation but if the batter isn’t ready on time or the pitcher doesn’t throw in time you get a strike or a ball added to the count respectively.

Just add a run to the score if the bowler doesn’t commence their delivery on time, deduct one from the batting team if the batter isn’t ready on time.
