Is this not why Nawrocki was signed ? Scales is a decent backup domestically ,Welsh isn't great but OK domestically too , not sure about yuki he looks awful .As far as Europe is concerned then we are Miles off competing in CL and always will be given the financial disparity, that's the simple reality .Best hope is a europa league run

I would go as far as to say we need a whole TEAM capable of competing at CL level, results in the last decade or so would suggest we are well short of that sadly

We’ve replaced Starfelt already as has been pointed out.
Anything happens to any of our defenders and we’re in exactly the same position as last season
CL? Great to be in it for the riches but did anyone believe the nonsense about building a team to actually compete in it? Seriously?
We’d have to spend tens of millions and significantly increase our salary budgets. No way are we ever doing that.

Still have to find an answer to the Jota “gap” and sadly I’m not sure we will this season.
But anyone who things that we are going to invest the kind of money needed to have some “performance” in the CL is off their heads.

No we’re not. He was injured last season too. He’d be missed of course but the vast majority of the sides we come up against are absolute dross and we’d have no excuses losing to any of them just because our main defender is out.
That’s not to say I wouldn’t want to see improvement, particularly in Taylor’s position and fairly soon Hart’s.
We can’t just buy very good players just for cover in the eventuality someone gets injured. At that level they want to play every week.
Early doors at Rangers but they look like they’ve added in a load of players of similar quality (so far) that there’s no way Beale can make that work unless one or two start to shine through very quickly.
Cantwell being dropped was bizarre but just shows what kind of a task Beale has.
Hart needs to be replaced ASAP if we are to do anything at CL or EL level. I feel he's got a few howlers in him this season if we persist with him.
He's done us a great turn when we needed it but the time to upgrade is now.
Agree on Taylor too. My fear with both him and Ralston is a bit of regression. Both weren't really up to par before Ange came in, both flourished under his style but now we're no longer likely to play the inverted FBs I hope they don't go back to the form they had before Ange was here.
Need AJ back and either Berna to come good or a new LB in soon.
I’d be happy with a CL back 4 of somebody nearer AJ’s level at LB, Nawrocki, CCV and AJ … then we just have to keep our fingers crossed they’re all fit, as the drop off after that is massive. You are neggy baws and I'm surprised that an experienced businessman is so prepared to throw in the towel, throw up your arms and not look at what competitors are able to do is somewhat of a surprise.

Anything happens to CCV, We're fvcked.
He's the best defender I've seen at Celtic since VVD.
We should really buy more acronym defenders.

We were shat at the back when CCV was out.
