Let’s be honest though - who is gonna watch this league? Which channels will pay to show it?

I couldn’t give a flying fig to watch football from Saudi Arabia. There’s enough footy as it is without another league.

Yes they can attract the big players with massive salaries but that doesn’t mean they will attract the people to actually watch them play - never mind pay for the privilege.

Any player that goes there should be told they are no longer in contention for their national team.

Why?

Player's should be free to play for who ever they want and it shouldn't have any impact on their right to represent their national team.
We brought Pabs in from an Arabian team, double standards?

They sure can play wherever they like but that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be consequences.

this not you ?

Coops could earn 7 times more. Why wouldn’t you take it? Players are human and just want best for their family and long term financial stability.

Would people watch saudi league.

This year I wouldn’t. Be if they were to carry on
Signing big name players and add that quality - I probably would watch now and again. Similar to the early 2000 I could watch Barca and Real Madrid with the quality they had

I am sorry but I still don't get why a player going to play in a territory like that should not be able to represent their country. Russia, I can understand but Saudi? I know their human rights record stinks and women are still second class citizens but would Coops signing be a sign that he endorsed the regime. Personally I wouldn't want to play there, couldn't imagine living in a country where I wasn't as free as the UK. Even living part of the year in Turkey and relatively liberal country is difficult.
I wonder whether there's much difference between what you are advocating and what Harold Thompson wanted in relation to the Don when he left the England job.

Fingers crossed he doesn't go just yet.

If he departs now we're deep in the brown stuff.

Oh well, if he goes good luck to him but it'll be hard for some to take after telling others to "F" off!..

It would be hypocritical.

Yes that’s me but I’m not condoning him going - only he’s at the back end of his career and a move would make sense for him.

I won’t be watching him play though.

It's pretty clear we need a TOTAL revamp of our defence. It's time Cooper moved on, even though he's been a great captain for us. He can go wherever he wants, of course.

Saudi Arabia has a murderous, autocratic government and leadership, just like Russia. If Cooper's cool with that, fine, and if I (and lots and lots and lots of other people) conclude that he'd be a khunt of the highest order for going there, that should be fine too.
