Harwood-Bellis is the key signing for me

Transfer market values him at around £25m, even if that isn't remotely accurate he does seem way out of our budget.
He has a year left on his contract, if City were to extend, as he is a player who they seem happy to loan out, that may be a question worth asking.
But I would imagine he will be looking to cement a permanent move where he can get first team football and the Premier League would probably be where he would end up.

Striker is priority for me. We couldn't hit crosses or long balls yesterday and spent 97 minutes trying to thread the ball through a web of 8 blue shirts. Need a goalscorer / targetman pronto. Harwood Bellis would cost 15 mil apparently.

Obviously doesn't make it true but the rumours are that it will take £15m which will be a bargain.

Desperately need a striker, watching the game yesterday without a striker on the pitch was tough.

We don’t have the ability or the style of play to manage without one. We need a proven 9 to lead the line.

Central midfield is desperate at the moment.

A lot of rumours saying Nat Phillips is a done deal. But then i heard we were also talking to a greek centre back last night so who knows.

The thing is, we are a championship team with a proven quality manager who are one of the favourites to go up.

Premierahip teams should be biting our hands off to take their fringe and younger players on loan and we need to start using the loan market to out advantage for a change

Looks like a good signing, but I always worry with players coming in from abroad, I just want (in the words of the square ball) a couple of "grizzled championship bar stewards" in that squad.

Players who have been here, know what they are doing, and have a clear knowledge of what this league is about

Must admit - once bitten twice shy with defenders from other European leagues.

Yeah would be a massive risk!

I'd say a defender and striker are equally important

The shape of the side lacks a target man who can bring others into play. At times it was easy for their defenders without a physical challenge

Defensively we are a shambles. We need a leader at the back. We were all over the place yesterday

I don’t believe the rumours about Phillips anymore. We have been about to sign him for weeks now. If true wouldn’t it have happened by now?

I hope that it’s not true anyway. I don’t think he’s good enough in the ball for what we need.

Regrettably this.

Ampadu will be better for us than Adams this season.

Amazed by the criticism he’s received on here.

Like I've said elsewhere, Struijk at RCB killed us first half yesterday. It completely undoes the entire approach play down the right hand side. There were other issues first half, but that is the most apparently resolvable one.

Hear a guy phone in on the radio yesterday who was all "take 25 mill for Adams, 25 mill for Gnonto" and I'm just baffled about how easy people seem to think transfers are. If we could just materialise ideal prices for players we want to move on then we would have done that weeks ago.

It seems apparent to me that the club have prices for potentially departing players, but nobody is coming close to them. That's why Meslier, Gnonto, Summerville etc are all still here.

I think Adams will go imminently, and that money will be used on a CB, ST and CM. Any other departure really depends on how the market fluctuates between now and the deadline.

Heard that too ..... you can't knock a dreamer ......

But hey, accepting we're likely to lose some of the better players, i'd love to be wrong and our new super negotiator wrings the last dime out of his compatriot at Chelsea .......

Thought Ampadu played well and can definitely fill the Adams role, who in my opinion is a good player but hyped up to a level he just isn’t. Hopefully the club are playing their cards right with Nat Phillips, because he’s nowhere near a £10m player.

I cant believe Chelsea want to pay 20m for Adams yet happy to sell us Ampadu for 7m.

Ampadu looked half the player Adams is yesterday. 1 game but thought he looked rather average

I love Tyler Adams. But, for me, Ampadu is not
a drop-off. Plus, Ampadu can play multiple positions.
Which is massive in a threadbare squad still being
put together. Take 20 mill from whoever and build.

Before Cooper's injury I thought a striker was a million miles more important.

It's still the priority, but at least one centre-half isn't far behind now.

Ampadu is probably not as good as Adams off the ball, but he is much, much better on it. Adams is a fairly limited footballer from a technical perspective (whatever the USMNT fanboys would have you think).

Ampadu and Adams would be a brilliant balance in centre midfield

They are different players.

Was impressed with Ampadu

Agree Ampadu looks a good signing from what we have seen so far. He needs to keep it up for the season and not disappear to the treatment room as has happened with so many of our big signings.

Re Adams, I never bought into some of the hyperbole on here about him. He looked good in our MF last season because the others were so awful. He is good at spotting danger and breaking up play but in terms of forward passing and starting us going forward average at best.
If we could get 25m for him that would go a long way towards getting the players in we desperately need.

He is probably the only one of the duffs signed last season we could even dream of getting what we paid for him. The others, Aaronson, Roca etc you would be lucky to get a quarter of their purchase price.
