Would you want to move to a club unwilling to pay your club's asking price but willing to pay over double for a player with similar experience? He should tell us to get stuffed, and I wouldn't blame him.

Depends how desperate he is to join us.
Let's hope it's not the sob story that we tried to sign X and then stop at that because we don't have a plan B.

Don't start
You people moan when we don’t try signing players and now you’re moaning because we’ve tried to buy a player for over 100m. What on earth is it that you think the club should be doing?

Caicedo was miles better than Lavia lets be real so he can't use that argument.
The question for me now would be is there another top class talent out there for the here and now in midfield to avoid taking a punt on Lavia turning talent into consistent performances.
Was impressed with Liverpool going for Caicedo because he's ready to hit the ground running and I feel they still need that.
Wait and see if Madrid bite for Mbappe this summer and get Tchouameni in if they need to raise funds?
Douglas Luiz could be another shout imo, better than Lavia and potentially sign-able.

Yes, because I'd quadruple my wage.
I severely doubt that clubs will now suddenly put £10m - £20m on the asking price either. We're the 7th richest club in the world, everyone knows we're minted anyway.
If all this Caicedo nonsense is true, I hope we don't sit around feeling sorry for ourselves.
Pay Southampton the £50m they wanted for Lavia, and hope they don't increase their price.
Buy a Centre Back, and get on with the season.
The transfer window started so positively with Mac & Szob, but it went downhill after that.
“ We've shot ourselves in the foot big time here, and we're quickly becoming a laughing stock”
Just as i was saying on the other thread thank you for backing my thoughts! 🤣

Of course you will you’re Liverpool.
Wasn’t Bellingham like 115m and you said that was too expensive?!
Pretty crazy you werent in for Bellingham at the same price but i guess agent fees, sign on fees and wages probably would have added 10s of millions

The club can't be blamed for Caicedo changing his mind
We had 60m and 2 more midfielders when Bellingham was available. Plus why would he go to a team with no CL? And I believe real are paying him more or about what we pay Salah?
Bellingham was a complicated deal cos of wages, bonuses plus payments to agent and his parents. We are just not about that life when it comes to that.
Caicedo was a huge transfer fee but the reported weekly wage was just 120k a week. Only problem is that Chelsea doubled that weeks ago.
We have looked a bit amateurish where we agreed the transfer fee but not agreed anything with the player. A player who Chelsea have been courting for 3-4 months. In addition to that we valued his partner Mac Allister more important than him.

It seems it is his agent causing the problems here.
I’ve reached the stage where I couldn’t care less if we sign this boy or not.
HOWEVER
Southampton set a time limit for the sale.
Chelsea offered £100M.
LFC then offered £105/110/111M take yer pick.
As far as the two clubs are concerned, end of.
For Southampton then to re-open the bidding, once the deadline is set - by them - is that not a breach of contract? FA involvement, investigation, bringing the game into disrepute, fines (the FA absolutely love a fine) etc?
I think it was Brighton Jimmy not Southampton
