Due to midfield weakness I would start with Gakpo so he can drop back when needed.
Bang on it though with Origin of Species
Can be a menace but I’m not convinced at all.
In fact, at times, he was a bit of a donkey.
Would love him to prove his doubters wrong but we’ll wait and see.
I'd be starting Gakpo in this game. I think he's more suited to how I expect Chelsea to set up. Hopefully we're in the lead, the game opens up and we can then bring Nunez on to create chaos in behind.
Jury is still out for me for him and Gakpo Jim
Gakpo was poor today. He can play in midfield in home against teams who play a low block, but in tough away games like today, he was a square peg in a round hole.
However, as a central forward I like him a lot more than Nunez and Jota, because it releases Salah and Diaz. It's a proven attacking shape, as he operates in a similar fashion to Firmino.
I'm starting to worry about Nunez. You hear the term rough diamond, used in relation to him a lot. I believe that he's raw, but I reckon this has to be a good season for him. Jota is Jota, he's good enough as a squad player, who will go on streaky patches for goals.
Back to Darwin, today I wasn't impressed. Firstly I thought he would be busting a gut to press, but he didn't. He needs to put himself about a bit, just not get sent off in the process. Also his first touch and general technique and balance concerned me last season and we're on display today. For me he should start in the cups and Europe and Gakpo in the league. This is a big season for him.
