I honestly think Todd Boehly doesn't have a clue. They're making the same mistake as last season - buying way too many players in a short space of time.
I hate them with an absolute passion Sandy, but let’s be honest here, they are 100% winning a trophy before us.

Edbo, he is completely clueless. And for all Levy`s so called faults, I would have him everyday over the Boehley`s of this world. He will just jump ship, and leave Chelsea in serious trouble.
PL are apparently looking to update their amortisation guidelines to fall in line with Uefa's. There's gonna be a meeting about it where I'd be surprised if most clubs other than Chelsea don't agree on it.

Sandy, it's you who are clueless, yes we have spent a lot, but we have also generated a lot of revenue, as we have done for years as a club but also in sales.
As usual you focus on one aspect rather than the whole picture.
Can't be bothered to explain the financials of how they are doing it... In short, its amortization over the length of long contracts which are being given to young players with lots of upside. They are not making these deals with 27+ year olds. They are also selling a lot of young home grown players which they have stacked up in their academy over the years which count on an annualized basis on their balance sheet as huge profit. They are doing NOTHING outside of PL rules. They have also been massively helped by the Saudis paying stupid money to get old/ high earnings off their books.
It's a great strategy for a project manager like Poch who loves to develop young players.
Do I like it.... Not really but it is what it is. Would be nice if there was someone smart enough at Spurs to do what Clearlake are doing.. They have clear ambition to win. In case you haven't noticed the PL is a rich man's game.. Perhaps someone should let Levy & Lewis know !
Don't kid yourself, Chelsea will be challenging this season or next and will be comfortably ahead of Spurs this year.
It is what it is. Unlike Levy who's trying to fight the system to his own team's detriment.... Chelsea are changing the system.
All clubs (Ex Spurs) are waking up to what Chelsea are doing and will be doing similar over the next few years.
Its clever accounting. Nothing more !

Agreed Diamond . Chelsea will have trophies before we do. We will win nothing under ENIC/Levy.
To put it simply.... Now Chelsea have made these recent signings, they will probably sell a home grown player in Gallagher (who came through their academy) for 50mln quid. That will be booked on the 2023 balance as pure underlying profit and will likely offset their outlay on Caicaido & Lavia for 2023

???? I Hate Chelsea as a football club.... You asked what are they doing.... I'm just telling you. I live in the US and am familiar with Boehly and Clearlake. Do I like it, No, not really, primarily because Spurs will get left behind but I don't look at everything through some tribalistic, one dimensional football prism.
I am a Chelsea fan. I admit that what Clearlake is doing is a risk - but a calculated risk. Financially, we are working within the current guidelines and any new laws that come in won't be retrospective, despite Sandy's blood lust. Diamond is right, it's clever accounting.
The risk is, of course, that these young players don't fulfill their promise. But I believe that enough of them will for the risk to pay off. You can see that Pochettino has a clear vision of play, that the players are being bought for his system and that many of the players being bought will have resale values. The problem would be of course the fact we overpaid for Cucurella, Mudryk and can't recoup those investments but there are players who would make profit and who do have good resale values.
It is also true that Boehly was extremely naive last season and the biggest mistake he made was placing Potter as manager. No top club and big personality experience, no idea how to integrate players into the group, no idea how to manage a club with expectations.
I think as it stands, it is sustainable, but this now depends on success and Champions League in the medium term because we won't be able to go out and buy more players without increasing revenue. The one thing we do have is a successful youth policy which allows us to sell a few players and make quick money.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Every club, even yours I am pretty much certain amortises the value of it players so that you can sell them for less than you paid for them as typically, like most things you buy, they devalue over time, this allows you to sell them at a lower rate allowing you to mitigate if not eliminate the risk.
Any homegrown players sold is 100% pure profit and we have been able to sell a fair few of them which also helps mitigate if not eliminate any losses from players we have purchased. We've been working smarter not harder for years, we've told you this many times, tried to explain it to you but if you haven't got it yet, I'm afraid I beginning you think you never will.
It's not a risk free strategy, it doesn't garrauntee success or failure. Last season was an example of it at its worst, this season is shaping up to a better version of it, so far.

That's ridiculous on so many levels.
The most important one is your attack on people's ability based on experience given your own seems very limited.
Chelsea are probably preparing for a transfer ban. Let's not forget all the FFP violations from 2012 to 2019 under Roman. They will have a bloated squad and as a backup they can loan players from Strasbourg who they own and have this summer purchased some of the most talented French youth.
Away from chatting Spurs for a bit

To put it simply.... Now Chelsea have made these recent signings, they will probably sell a home grown player in Gallagher (who came through their academy) for 50mln quid. That will be booked on the 2023 balance as pure underlying profit and will likely offset their outlay on Caicaido & Lavia for 2023
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No club is going to be paying £50 million for Gallagher. Don`t kid yourself every Chelsea player is going to be sold for £50 million. They won`t be able to give most of their players away in time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
OK.... Just watch

Yes they are changing the nature of the transfer market and their might be some rule changes that will follow as a result but you can rest assured Chelsea will be ahead of the game as a result.
Bohley might not know a lot about football, but he knows money and how to operate within a regulatory framework. There's no point comparing them to City and the allegations against them..... Its not the same situation at all
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I am sure Chelsea are ahead of the game, spent £800 million plus last season to finish 12th.
Diamond you would had been outraged if Spurs had done that, so I don`t get your love in for Chelsea.

I honestly think Todd Boehly doesn't have a clue. They're making the same mistake as last season - buying way too many players in a short space of time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edbo, he is completely clueless. And for all Levy`s so called faults, I would have him everyday over the Boehley`s of this world. He will just jump ship, and leave Chelsea in serious trouble.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandy, it's you who are clueless, yes we have spent a lot, but we have also generated a lot of revenue, as we have done for years as a club but also in sales.
As usual you focus on one aspect rather than the whole picture.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are buying players, then selling them for less than you purchased them. Don`t sound like a good idea to me. Also these long term contracts for so many players, probably most will not be very good, are going to bring your club down.

Just because you live in USA, doesn`t make Boehly a football owning genius. No more than me living in the UK makes Boris Johnson a great Prime Minister.
Boehly is completely clueless with his scattergun approach to football. Spent all that money last season, then having to offload lots just to balance the books. Don`t sound like a man who particularly knows what he is doing to me.
