I doubt he was promised anything but Barrowfield will cost £21m (and rising going by materials and labour shortages) if he wants to push that through? He's a fan, remember. Window still has 2 weeks - let's see where we end up.

If the team continues winning no cant will much care what his demeanor is. Goes the other way and his every word will be analysed. Just the way it is.

Do people forget he never lost a single domestic trophy last time he was the Celtic Manager, went an entire season undefeated during that spell and some of his results against Rangers were simply unreal, may I add right now he has a 100% win rate this season and is for all his faults 100% a professional manager who dragged players and staff up to his standards, he already had dropped a player for being late. He will not lose the league whilst he is in Scotland

I think he's a great manager lex I'm delighted he's back I just wonder why he seems so downbeat ? Maybe I'm reading too much into his press conferences ?

All true, altho time will tell on the last bit. Probably worth caveating that though by also acknowledging that Rangers were far weaker in his first stint. He also dropped points in 14 (yes, fourteen) league games in his second season. He won’t be winning any league up here these days with a repetition of anything approaching that. Kinda agree with the OP that it’s all been a bit downbeat and underwhelming so far, albeit early days. Just seems a bit flat … in fact, reminiscent of our turgid football in his last season. Whilst I didn’t want him back, I at least thought/hoped he’d be back champing at the bit, with a point to prove. More like going through the motions, as though he’s lowered himself to come back. Hopefully I’m way wide of the mark, but that’s my initial impression.

He probably misses the boaby.

Or misses with boabies.

He’s maybe trying to avoid using his David Brent antics that he was rightly criticised for previously. I’d rather he kept his current profile and get suspicious fans on side by winning leagues and trophies. 🍀👍

I'm just a bit bemused by it all and becoming suspicious of his reasons for coming back .I really don't know what's driving him to want to be back here I mean he's already won the lot up here and ambitions to improve in europe are folly with the current financial disparity? The signings being made have not immediately strengthened us they may given time ? But were nowhere near strong enough for CL

Scepticism is healthy. He gets the benefit of the doubt for now. Reality dawn's when the CL groups are drawn. If the league results are good he'll probably get some leeway.

Not expecting us to do anything much in the CL, bar trying to avoid utter humpings, take the money and run. Struggling to see how we’re going to avoid humpings with the current squad though, but still time to add.

Killie away tomorrow will be a real test, without CCV, AJ and Hatate … and Ibrox looms. Hoping we can start to see more organised, energised performances. Results have been good so far, but we’ve looked pretty unconvincing at times. Keeper, both FBs, midfield dynamic, and contribution from our wide players have all been patchy at best.

Is this a pre-emptive OP in case it goes tats up tomorrow?

This could be a tough one today but if we turn up and play well we will win 👍😄

I don’t think I can even listen to him.

After the very very infrequent bad performance under Ange, you knew he was going to be honest after the game and say something interesting.

I can’t even listen to his smarm.

Obviously. That’s why I didn’t say “Probably won something first.”

Celtic were dire today. They displayed the worst of Rodger’s style of play. If Rodgers doesn’t beat Rangers handsomely at Ibrox the knives will be out.
