What you are doing is twisting facts to suit your arguement.
Gnonto and Cree are mates. OK that we know.
No reason to read anything sinister into that.
Greenwood, Joffy and Mcgurk too are mates, no reason to read anything sinister into that.
The fact that Gnonto has refused to play for the club has absolutely nothing to do with his friendship with Summerville as far we know.
Many would point to the use of a phrase such as "thick as thieves" in the context of young black men, as a racist comment.
Do you need to think about your use of language Jonty?

You trying to telll me you don't think that using the phrase thick as thieves when talking about two black boys would not be construed as racist. I think you it would.
But your points, yes, Gnonto and Summerville are friends and hang out. No issue with that.
Yes Gnonto has refused to play, no issue with that.
Yes, Summerville was not happy when picked last season, no issue with that.
But are you really inferring that because they are friends that there is a link between Summerville's state of mind and that of Gnonto, which is what I think you are saying. If not why bring their friendship up?

“Thick as thieves” has no racist meaning at all.
You can be thick as thieves whatever colour you are or what country you come from.
I think my initial reaction to WG refusing to play was:
"I love him. But sell him." (something like that)
I'm glad the club stood their ground. Farke did the same
when Cantwell & Buendia threw a strop at Norwich.
If him rejoining the squad means we get his services
for the next few games, and then sell him, fine by me.
We need bodies. Gnonto offers much more than that.
And if the knock on effect means Summerville stays
then great. We need Cree as much as anyone.
One of the biggest problems Gnonto has is he's an argumentative so and so, you see it all the time on the pitch, so, with the fall out that is between him and the club, I wonder how argumentive he's being around the staff and players!..
I'm one for if Farke is happy and wants to use him ok, but I won't be happy with it, ill advised or not, its his choice and he shouldn't have said at the end of last season he wasn't pushing for a move, mind, a lot of those that have left said the same!..
But his International boss hasn't helped matters!..
He's refused to play, so like Jansson he should be shown the door!..
You can bet most in the not so rich world that refused to work would be shown the door, and in his world they alway's say nobody is bigger than the club!..

Why on earth do folk look for signs of racism where there are none? I’m sorry Els but there is categorically nothing racist about anything Jonty said. I think he’s got way more grounds for being offended at your accusing him of racism, than you have about anything he’s said. I think we all have the measure of each on here and on the whole, we’re a fairly enlightened and caring bunch. We all like the banter but let’s keep on good terms unless there’s something worthy of complaint.

" two black boys"
The only person mentioning this protected characteristic is yourself.
To call someone else racist when you are the one continually mentioning this is utter hypocrisy.

Ultimately its the player’s decision
^^^
Absolutely it is.
Let's face it though, a fair share of athletes
aren't successful based on their business acumen.
They rely on their agents to know their side of
the sport they're in. Finding and hiring the right
agent is a big part of the equation for their careers.
Hire the wrong one and it goes south quick.

Enlightened is not the adjective I would use to describe most people on here.
