This club we are now in a sunken place. Unlike some, I don't particularly believe that the Glazers are horrible from the stance of expenditure. They have done right by us in my opinion this end. Their decision to let Woodward run this club is where they have fekkked up, and I do not believe they can recover. At this point, we just need a new owner as I believe this will change the mood within our club from fans to players.

If the Qataris buy us and go balls in and put everything behind us we’d be the best side in the world within a few seasons but I personally don’t want them to buy us as there surely has to be a better way of doing things than becoming a soulless sportswashing tool playing on cheat mode?

You just can't help yourself you weasel. The OP specifically stated he is not interested in this gibberish

Firstly I’d like to thank you for calling me a weasel. Not so much because you named me after a cute animal, more that I have to give you props for being original with the choice of insult. You could have said so many other words so well done buddy,
Secondly .. actually the first was brilliant.

The Glazers leaving lock stock and barrell with all their debt and useless chronies 'running' the club in Manchester would lift a massive cloud over millions of current and ex united fans, despite whoever takes over. If the new owners turn out to be crap in time then that would probably develop into a similar battle and stand off with the support. Time would tell . But the initial period would be a massive lift for the club.

As for Qatar.....I have never liked this type of ownership existing in football at any club. I hate it actually as I think it goes against everything the game should stand for. However.......I also hate the Glazers with every fibre of my body and soul too. It's not a great choice.
Ideally I'd have liked Sir Jim to come in with 100% offer and to clear the debt. That to me would have been the best way out of this but sadly he doesn't seem to fancy doing that so we haven't exactly got a lot of options.

The comparison is sound in terms of general mood around the club. Newcastle improved pretty much straight away without too much change in playing staff.
Not excusing the players here but uncertainty can cause a small drop in performance.

City have had about £1.5 to 2bn invested into their club from their owner. His own money.
We've lost £1.5bn to interest / debt repayments and some dividends to the owners too.
That's a 3 to 3.5bn difference right there. Doesn't take a genius to work out why the clubs are where they are. We've spent money badly for sure but if we were debt free we'd have been able to spend a hell of lot more and under different owners we'd have probably spent it better too.
I am resigned to the fact that we will likely be owned by the Qatari's. All I can hope at this point is that we are run transparently as a self-sufficient business and that there aren't a load of questions over suspect income.

Have my doubts about the transparency though. I mean most people don't actually think Jassim is the real money behind the deal so it's already failing at being transparent. It's definitely a state backed deal in my eyes dressed up as private one. He's the son of the former PM for crying out loud. If people think the government aren't involved in this then I have some magic beans they might want to purchase from me.

Not at all. It's a terrible way to start off a relationship and yet still probably more preferable than the Glazers. 😂
I'll allow the whole stadium investment argument and I get why the whole debt thing rankles but most of the whining from United fans (and it has crept in here) isn't about that and ends up coming down to "we could've spent more on players and we'd be better than City". Most of your problems seems to be when you spend too much on players. Who was the last high value transfer that truly worked out? Maybe less money might've been better for you...

More money being spent by the Glazers and their stooges would only lead to more mistakes.

I think most sensible fans on here don't have much complaints about how much has been spent on players. It's the people responsible for that spending that's been the issue. It's a bit like putting me in Jos Verstsppen's car. Amateurish!

What on Earth are you dribbling on about? Do you even know?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bit aggressive.
Are you contending that you aren't one of the riches clubs in the world and spend as much as or more than other teams?

To the Ill informed scousers who don't understand football finances.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep. They money that we have spent has been self-generated.

So just to get this clear... You think that your club should have spent more than £3billion on signings since the glaziers have taken over?

I am resigned to the fact that we will likely be owned by the Qatari's. All I can hope at this point is that we are run transparently as a self-sufficient business and that there aren't a load of questions over suspect income.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think we have all resigned ourselves to this as the likely outcome. They have more money than sense in that part of the world.

Well if we'd spent better, like he said, we wouldn't need to would we? In which case we could have invested in the stadium.

He's just highlighting the difference. Part of that debt expenditure could have gone towards better facilities and stadium improvements too. Not all about players.

If the Qataris buy us and go balls in and put everything behind us we’d be the best side in the world within a few seasons but I personally don’t want them to buy us as there surely has to be a better way of doing things than becoming a soulless sportswashing tool playing on cheat mode?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, the Glazers have held you back with their reluctance to provide funds for new players
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They haven’t provided any funds
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is that funny? It's correct. Everything we've spent in the market under their ownership has been from revenue generate by the club.
The Glazer's are leaches, and the people & structures they've put in place to run the footballing side of our operation have been rank amateur at best.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah I forgot owners are meant to pump their own money into football clubs. It must be hard being one of the riches clubs in the world spending more than pretty much anyone. Not like you've been doing that for about 30 years either
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What on Earth are you dribbling on about? Do you even know?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not defending the Glazers, a happy day when they've gone.
But presumably they could have put all the money used for transfers in their own pockets if they had wished

Yep, can't disagree with any of that. It's not really a great way to start a new ownership is it?

Not very bright are you? When did I say that? Of course we shouldn't have spent that much.
They should have spent millions more on stadium, training ground though. They don't care though.

We are going off the premise than under different owners and a different board we'd have done things differently.
More money being spent by the Glazers and their stooges would only lead to more mistakes.

I think most sensible fans on here don't have much complaints about how much has been spent on players. It's the people responsible for that spending that's been the issue. It's a bit like putting me in Jos Verstsppen's car. Amateurish!
