Yeah he’s not been given much of a chance really. You can say he’s spent £400m but the reality is that’s not even half of what we need to rebuild our squad to challenge city.

-------------------------------------------

It's closer to £350 million but regardless the money could've been spent better than it has been.

Even £800 million wouldn't be enough judging by how we've used the money available to us since last summer.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah they’ve been hit and miss, but tell me a manager who gets every signing right, especially in his first summer….

Casemiro, Martinez, Onana, Eriksen have all been decent signings.

Mount, Hoijlund, too early to tell.

Malencia was inexpensive but he’s garbage, Antony time will tell but he was overpriced at the least.

Ten Hag said the players aren’t following instructions and sounded pretty frustrated in his conference. Sounds to me like the players are downing tools again after a season.

Thought we were rid of the bad eggs but apparently not.

Why are they all playing automatically?

I actually think there is a player in there with Antony but he's not your typical winger.

I know we've said this for loads of players but in a cohesive team I think he picks up quite a few goals/assists as he can pick a pass out and has a decent shot on him.

Maybe I'm pinning too much hope on him but with Hojlund as a proper 9 I think we'll be better. Much better.

Bruno, Rashford and Casemiro are all quality players but it’s difficult to build a cohesive team with all 3 imo.

Of course they have plenty of moments but they are all very inconsistent in possession.

Can anyone at this point tell the difference between:

Hafi / De Gea
Redastomatoes / Antony

Even though I like all of those signings, I'd have used the money for Casemiro differently. We could've brought two midfielders in for that money and addressed more of the issues in midfield. We really needed our main midfield signing to have been in or approaching his peak years, not a 30 year old who was going to cause us another problem down the line in the short term.

I'd have used the money spent on Antony differently too, signing a cheaper winger and putting the rest toward somebody else at some stage.

As was mentioned above, we could've signed Antony cheaper earlier in the window last summer. He wouldn't have cost half as much but probably 25-30% less. I'm not sure we would've even signed Antony had it not been for the Brighton and Brentford defeats at the start of last season. It seemed like a panic buy at the time.

😂 Hafi is my spirit animal. Antony bugs me, for someone so tepid he should get to be paid so much, be allowed to be arrogant in his lack of ability, and continue to be chosen so automatically. Hes like a mother having a blind spot for his stupid, irritating son, saying "hes not that bad, he did well in art".

Why we never went for Maddison is a strange one.

he's a straightforward no.10, much more so than mount, and far less suited to a conventional midfield role.

so playing him alongside bruno wouldn't have worked (insert "it's not working with mount" joke here), though whether he's a better player than fernandes is up for debate.
