Declan Rice

Didn't think he was sensational yesterday at all. He was decent nothing more.
His goal had a lot of good fortune about it too. Without the deflection it doesn't go in.

If he's a £105m footballer then Keano and Vieira would be worth £250m in today's game.

Didn't even think Arsenal were that great either. They were a hair's width away from losing 2-1 to an injury hit and out of sorts Utd team with Evans and Maguire at CB.

Amrabat outshined him.at the final. Hes a basic player with the added benefit of being english. overpriced. Lets hope they get 4-5 good years from him.

That’s the kind of mentality where people didn’t think Carrick was ever that good. The guy is absolute class and makes it look very very simple.

Hi Robb

Put this on LL thread the other day, but I think you might have missed it.

Arsenals ludicrous over the top celebrations yesterday have kind of masked what was actually a very mediocre performance from them where they got out of jail at the end with the offside and then being given a freebie goal by some woeful defending. They weren’t very good, and Rice was average.

Opinions Robb. We all have them.

Declan Rice isn't world class. Watched him enough times now for England and Westham. He's a good player, nothing more. He's never a £105m worth either.

Don't think he dictated the game or did anything that was out of the ordinary. His goal as I said wasn't a great strike either. It was good fortune that made it go in.

If Robb was our DoF, we'd have Rice, but also Conte.

I assume you’ve never actually been to a game where your team have scored a late winner

If the Glazers had bothered to sign Anrabat early enough to be ready fir yesterday's game then we would've won for sure. Amrabat is World class and completely owned Rice in the conference league final. Their delay has cost us 6 points so far.

I think Rice is a good player, who could turn out to be very good, especially as he gets a chance to be more attacking-minded in this Arsenal team and full develop his range of skills under Arteta.

I actually didn't think he was over-impressive yesterday, but because he scored effectively the winning goal, the media have gone crazy over him.

But it will take him time to settle in, and for me he looks the part - yes, the fee was crazy, but put it this way, I understand his fee more than Havertz.
To judge him after 4 games makes no sense, but obv its in the media interest to hype him and he will have to live with that. But I think he will turn out to be a good signing for them.
If nothing else, I like the energy and passion Arsenal bring. I know partly that was to do with them being at home, but watching us play, esp the first half, doesn't really get you going............

The game turned on its head when Lisandro Martinez left and Utd had shuffle the pack. Until then I didn;t see no Rice, or Arsenal. In fact, Utd were for me very harshly had a goal ruled out. It looked like Garnach was level and any such fine margins should be given benefit to the attacking side.

Arsenal were ripped apart by the new guy's back heel in the move and it was only bit of quality in a dour game wher Utd were content to keep the ball in their half, and play long balls to Rashford.

I saw Rice goal which had a foul in it too. Arsenal sneakily placed Rice for a shot at the back, and had their defender block Utd players stopping them from any attempts to block Rice. Good tactic, but had the ref or VAR done their work, it would have been a foul.

It's funny how when you point out the obvious opposition fans just resort to claiming bitterness.
Hojlund was also clearly fouled:

We had the one against wolves go for us, we've had nothing since, including the blatant handball Vs the spurs.
Shameless refs attempting to "even things up" rather than playing to the law.

OP

Declan Rice is not a sensational player. He is an OK player, but certainly not sensational. He scored a deflected goal, which my Grannie could have saved.

You are going way over the top about an average Prem league player, that is vastly overpriced for what he actually does.

Maddison at £40 million or Rice at £110 million. I know which club has got the better player and bargain.

Clearly off? Was Gabriels shoulder the furthest point forward or was his head? Anyone with eyes knows the right answer but interested to see which hoop you jump through.
