lets just bin this just now.

he had a good game, but he was poor v st johnstone the week before.

we need a left back, simply being irish isn't enough.

Got to be worth a shout, given Taylor’s “form” and Bernabei having done zip to convince anyone he’s a defender.

Not totally writing off his CB partner Lagerbloke yet, as he’s been thrown in at the deep end, BUT the signs certainly don’t look good on the supposed £3m we’ve spunked there. Had some alarmingly hideous moments yesterday. Based on that, he’s probably 6th choice CB rather than 3rd, when all our options are fit!

Didn’t see the Saints game, and agree we needed to sign a LB and fooked it … as we’ll find out in spades come the CL ties. Not sure what we’d have to lose trying Scales at LB for now though. Taylor’s offering absolutely nothing, and I’ve no idea what Bernabei is … certainly not a defender. At least Scales would give us added height & physicality, if nothing else.

i feel for taylor, not being played to his strengths at all, worked really hard to be accepted by our support.

that said, no room for sympathy, we need better.

Both of them need more time.

We’ve been baggy rsed Rovers since the start of the season with injuries and new signings needing to settle, so to write off or “promote” these guys this early on will most likely look like the ridiculous future gazing it really is.

Bit like all of those who forecast an easy Rangers victory yesterday; and I include myself in that. Or even those that almost accepted we’d be behind Rangers in the league by now when the first fixture list came out. Yet here we are having won the game yesterday and 4 points ahead of them in the league.

We’ve players to come back in some 8-10 weeks time so who knows how these two will progress. Will be a completely different picture by mid November.

Unfortunately Mr Dead President

We cannot just bin it as an idea. We did not sign a quality left back so we do need to consider options to see us through.

Scales is our 5th choice centre back (though on yesterday's showing was better than our 3rd choice). IS he a better optionat LB in the current set up than Taylor or Bernabei? We do not know.

My opinion is he is a left sided Ralston. Will be good cover and always gives 100% but that is where I feel Taylor also resides.

my opinion is that he is a fine left back under a manager than can manage him.

unfortunately we don't have that.

might as well stick scales in there till january but its a problem area for sure and he is more certainly not a hidden gem or left sided solution

That manager ruled the roost up here from the moment he arrived a few years ago. He’s just beaten our biggest challengers on their own turf when almost everyone ruled out any chance of a result.

He’s been proven to improve players.

His style of football isn’t anywhere near as exciting as Postecoglou’s but it gets results and trophies. He’s not an EPL manager but until we find someone who is better than he is, or who we’re not sure about enough to take what will be a gamble; as much as it pains me to say, he’s by far and away the best we will get.

Lagerbloke will get more chances until injuries clear but he's come to us too young. CB so difficult to be thrown in so young. It is the one position we need to buy experience and not prospects. Him and Scales could be out on loan at Aberdeen. Is what it is.

Sounds like Phillips arrived not 100% fit, but should be available after the international break, which will obviously help us. Still can’t remember if he’s right or left-sided though.

does he though?

maeda backward
ralston backward
mcgregor looking poorer
taylor backward

i don't think he does improve players really mate?

Phillips is a stop gap until CCV is back. Emergency loan so it’ll be what it is

Given Taylors form he should be out the team , i wouldn't mind giving Scales a go at the position

Aj CCV Nawrocki and Scales

Its pretty criminal that we havent went out and signed a first teamer LB -

Full backs are so important to get right

wjhat a difference AJ made yesterday , hes a cracking player him , got a bit of everything in his game

Maeda and McGregor were sensational yesterday.

Was Taylor every really good? Or is this revisionism.

Also Ralston? Give yourself a shake 😂😂

We have had maybe 2 or 3 poor games and 2 or 3 good games. So its not too bad.

Dont think AJ was all that great yesterday. Done ok but wouldn't say he was a game-changer.

If OReilly sees his future here then there is every chance he is a future captain!

Saved me writing the same.

Maeda was outstanding for us yesterday bar having any composure in the final third.

taylor was cracking last season.

Ralston looked at least alrightish under ange which was a miracle given how bad he is.

as i've alluded to i love maedas work off the ball.

we can't say he was sensational as a winger who fluffs crosses and shots all over the place ffs

Stopped reading after you said Maeda wasnt sensational.

Covered every blade of grass and while he wasnt amazing offensively (still occupied Tav and Cantwell most of the game) he made sure that defensively he wasnt beaten.

Also, how fecking lazy is OH

this is a nonsense comment joe, he was not defensively sound.

he done what he does well, but by no means sensational, did you see his cross in the second half?

Maeda didn't play as a winger yesterday. He was a wide mid in a 4-5-1 and worked harder than anyone on the pitch. His pace and effort to recover and snuff out line breaks was sensational.

posted on 4/9/23

Hes a right footed left winger, played out of position to accomadate Abada (who wasnt great again yesterday).

He would be better trying to cut in and take the shot himself which he was trying to do but was crowded out. But when he lost it, he made sure that he got goal side immediately.

posted on 4/9/23

as i've said earlier i've never seen a player work so hard off the ball.

he does a lot of running and pressures the opponent well.

he was not sensational.
