Best part of yesterday from united perspective. Strong, can hold the ball and good awareness. Nice skill as well leading to Garnacho goal.
But again Martial scored two on his debut.
Hopefully he turns out better than our injury prone number 9

He's going to be a handful. Pace to burn and looks to be a physical player too.

Just need a top right winger now. Rashford Hojlund ?

It was a positive cameo, looking forward to seeing how he does from the start - hopefully that will be the next game.

He looked like everything we’ve lacked in a CF for many years. Hopefully he can find the net too

I liked what he did in the 30+ minutes he was on the field yesterday. Hopefully we can see him play full time from the next match itself and then we can evaluate him even better

Looks a real player ….has something about him

Looks ready to scrap and bully defenders, exactly what we need

Looked great. If only had been brought on at HT, we could have had a different result. Light and day vs Martial. Hoklund, Amrabat, Bruno and Antony are going to be absolute pests for opposition when pressing. We already have one of the highest last third recovery numbers, it will only be better going forward. Hop3fully with Hojlund, we'll actually convert some of that possession into goals.

Watch him get injured in the next few games

MU52 lets be honest here old boy, it’s hard to assess Hojlund on that debacle yesterday, however he looks far better option than Martia!

Too early to say.
We've had many false dawns with young players.

Let him develop and get up to speed. He should be assessed at the end of the season.

Showed in his first five minutes on pitch how pathetic Marshall is

Looks to have a good all round game, but remains to be seen how clinical he is in front of goal.

I liked the physicality and energy I saw albeit very briefly. Thought he could have made a better run when we broke with him and Rashford which led to Rashford’s awful shot.

Any more info on this supposed bad back that will stop him playing week in week out? It was reported a couple weeks back but heard nothing since.

We knew exactly what we were getting when we signed him due to his record elsewhere. Just needs to adjust to the league and then I really think we will see that 10 goal per season striker that we are expecting.

Dont be a deekhead.

Not to sound bad but hes the weghorst we wished we had. He may not score a bunch of goals but he will make sure the defence knows hes there. Mild optimism.

Looked like a good version of Weghorst

Trust me, there will be some that will have genuinely already classified him as the greatest/worstest of all time.

It's happened innumerable times with United signings. Or those that come in from the academy - most of whom then end up in the championship.

Personally, I do favour players with experience of, either northern or eastern European league systems/coaching etc. It generally means they adapt far quicker to the epl than someone else who's only experience is mincing about in the iberian leagues.

There are exceptions of course - both ways - but it's been a pretty useful 'rule of thumb' for epl clubs.

He's certainly got the necessary skill set for a United centre forward/striker.

Although I would suggest being compared/contrasted with Martial (as some of the usual numpties seem set on doing) is, at the very least, misguided.

Martial has been just one of the victims of being asked to play out of position and in a terribly unbalanced and shapeless team. He's NEVER been the type of player to act as a 'spearhead'. Kudos to him for seeming to accept that role eithout complaining. He's a quality attacking midfielder and he's a far superior footballer than Rashford (for example).

Great minds and all that

It's Christmas all over again. My dad got me an away shirt for Christmas but he got size large and it was fine but the medium would have fitted much better so went and exchanged it. Seems similar to what Ten Haag has done. The large Weghorst worked ok but the medium version looks to be a better fit.

I thought his cameo was a breath of fresh air in the CF position: powerful, fast, giving his CB's a tough time with his back to goal, giving the attackers players some second balls to go and get and he showed a deft touch in the build up to Garnacho's offside goal.

I'm not expecting the goals to start flowing right away for him, but he looks like he could be an excellent foil for the other attackers to play off in the meantime.

I liked his cameo and from when he came on I felt we took some initiative.

He may or may not score a bucketful but he'll be a menace for defenders with his pace and strength. We could do with being awkward to play against as that's a good thing for when we just don't quite click in games. If he always offers an out ball then we can build from there.

Some have compared him to Cavani but with pace. If he can be that player then I'd be very pleased indeed!

posted on 4/9/23

I agree with others about his pace and hold up play and that the amount of goals won't matter so much. If he can use his pace to get in behind the defence and get one on one with the keeper, then hold it up and wait for someone better to come and kick it into the goal then we could be title challengers.
