Not losing any sleep over Roca not made for the premier league and wouldn’t be much better in the championship .
Maybe 49ers put these clauses in deliberately so that they can use them to say they cant spend money for 2 years......

Is that what you took from the comment 🤦
All these deals at face value...if true, make the club look desperate, as does the countless number of investors and a net spend of less than £3m. The only way that deal benefits the club is if we fail to go up...and that could be the intention.
He'd be ok this level, Farke might get more out of him. Not bothered either way but I ain't going to write a player off without seeing him play at our current level.
It doesn’t matter if he’s Messi or Morison, the point is the same.
Why would we amortize players for other clubs.
How could anyone think this was a good idea.

Well at least I learned a new word today.
This was always my concern going forwards
This year loan clauses
Next year ?
Are we really looking at writing off 150m of players for nothing
Hes the only one playing well apparently as well.
Roca suited to a slower game. One of the slowest snails ever to wear a Leeds shirt
Can’t find this in the YEP
If true it’s a horrendous deal. He’s one that will have suitors next summer for a permanent deal, I don’t think we’d struggle to get our money back or mostly back

Sadly they were worth less than half we paid as soon as we saw them play…the concern for many on here was that we were buying unproven at Premier League level players…a gamble that backfired.
Fair enough but just not sure how many times this crap can be regurgitated.

Cheers, I already read that article as well, there was so many ads I didn’t realise there was more to the story
Crazy contract business
These contracts either scream of arrogance
or certifiable insanity. Can't work out which?
The 49ers/club really need to go public with
whose idea this was. If it's previous regime
and 49ers were helpless to stop it, tell us.
If it was done between Radz, Orta, and the
49ers in full agreement, then come out and
explain why the collectively thought this was
a good idea.
If it is what some have speculated, the fault
of Marathe, and him alone, then come out
and own it. Then explain what he was thinking.
Otherwise, this will become a death spiral
of finger pointing and the fans get shafted no
matter what.

Completely agree.
If I was 49ers and previous owners had shafted me to this degree, I would sue them, as Americans like to do.
But they have been really clever in specifically addressing this in podcast video when Paraag was asked if he had to bite his lip watching what was going on.
The question was clearly prepared beforehand to give Paraag a chance to say it wasnt him but without actually blaming AR.
Why would you do this?
Because you know that if you blame AR there will be AR responding back saying no way, you were part of it.
If 49ers were shafted they should say it and maybe even sue.
If they were part of it they should put their hands up, explain why, we wouldn't like it but at least then we can understand and there develops an element of trust.
"We tried to help getting players in that were borderline, it was only way to get them over the line, we were confident we wouldn't need to use the clauses, but otherwise we were going to struggle to rebuild. We've all learnt a lesson here, that will make us stronger in the future and we're investing to try and mitigate some of the impact of these clauses, we, like the fans want to get back to Prem, this season or next and put the relegation firmly behind us blah blah blah blah"
These loan clauses were not to get players to the club. They would all have come anyway.
They were to convince players to sign relegation wage cuts. They were included to protect the club financially in the event of relegation.
Could easily have been resolved with a relegation release fee.
I suspect that Orta thought that losing his signings on the cheap would be a disaster and that loaning them out would be tough first season but he would be able to get us promoted with loanees and have the luxury of being able to use all his big signings upon promotion.
The problem with that, and that is so effing obvious. The signings failed and are a huge reason we went down. I’m guessing Orta genuinely believed that he couldn’t make mistakes and bad luck would be the entire reason for relegation. That losing his amazing signings would be a bigger disaster than relegation itself.
In truth we would still have been able to get fees for many of the players that have gone on loan. But the longer they show how crap they are the less chance we have.
Roca is someone that we would actually have recouped the full fee for because there were enough caveats to his season. Most notably his strengths are the opposite of Marsch football.
To allow his to stay on a continuous loan instead of recouping the fee is ridiculous.
