not absurd criticism. England have arguably the best squad in world football (along with France). We should win something otherwise it will be a failure.
Last night summarised that we win despite southgate as even bringing on his mate maguire brought scotland back into the game.
Our strongest 11 players on form are definitely now top 2 sides in International Football. Only France have arguably a better squad and definitely a better manager.
Our only weakness is a pathetic hand picked dullard of a manager that will happily play 2/3 defensive Midfielders in the games that really matter. Shoehorning in his favourites and playing our best players out of position to accommodate them. As for in game management he's proven to be utter abysmal
It'll be a tradegy if this team don't win a tournament. The blame will fall on one man and rightly so. The fact Maguire is still near this squad let alone actually playing is ludicrous. Another Safegate trustee that's literally a calamity waiting to happen in every game. It'll cost him and us in the end.
As for Phillips.......the guy is the most pointless, rewarded footballer ever. Utter g@5h🤮
The criticism vs Ukraine on both Southgate and players was warranted.
Southgate picked his favourites regardless of form and it showed, while the wide players kept passing back to the full backs instead of trying to beat their man. Even I could do that if that's what is required to play out wide for England.

Disagree. He was very best and effective winning back possession and moving the attack forward.
Absurd criticism?! Southgate is a terrible manager. We’ve got the best attacking talent in the world and he insist on play dull uninspired football.
Rice and Phillips against Scotland ffs. We won’t win anything under him which is such a shame considering it’s our best chance in decades
I think southgate has played his role, has got rid of club rivalries within the national team, has galvanised the support for the team and done well with the above.
However as a coach he is lacking and needs replacing.
Much like ranieri > mourinho for chelsea.
Rodgers > Klopp for liverpool.
Southgate simply has to deliver a trophy now, the talent at his disposal is ludicrous - take Mbappe out and I think we have a better overall squad than the French. I can’t remember a more talented set of forward and midfield options and as Dunk showed last night we also have strength in depth at the back as well.
Scotland were an in form side handing out beatings with aplomb at the moment - England swatted them aside without really breaking sweat.
Kane
Bellingham
Saka
Foden
Grealish
Rice
Rashford
Sterling
Maddison
TAA
Walker
Trippier
James
Stones
Dunk
Shaw
Chilwell
Pickford
Eze
Phillips
Mount
Guehi
Maguire
Wilson
If they can find form again or not be banned: Pope, Toney, Sancho
We have ridiculous amounts of talent at our disposal the likes of which only the French can also call upon
Crazy that maguire gets a game (I feel for him) but dunk, colwill, guehi, stones, white, tomori are all much better,
the persistence for Maguire and Henderson when far from needed, is just pure wummery at this point surely

Never been impressed with White - there’s a reason he often gets shunted over to the left back position by Arteta. Dunk showed last night that he should be starting and when he is fit again Mings should also be getting more chances
people have such unrealistic expectations for international football
everyone is dull and looks like a bag of shiiite half the time, the idea there's some manager out there that will have England playing champagne football whilst winning every week is a fantasy

This level of talent should be making the semi finals as a minimum of all the tournaments it enters - France, Argentina, Spain and Croatia will all cause problems and Brazil should be better than they are - it’s difficult to make a case outside of that though and England arguably have the most talent going. Spain are still young, Argentina and France rely on Mbappe, Messi and to some degree Di Maria. Croatia are insanely good at tournaments but are very old and Brazil always seem to be in exhibition mode.
A focused England side should be reaching the semis of the Euros at least depending on when they hit France.
Southgate has done a great job, but can he get us over the line with our most talented side - possibly ever

The biggest issue is how easy it is for side like England now with the seeding. England have lost 1 qualifying match since 2009 - 1 defeat in nearly 15 years.
It is far too easy. That’s international football though if your the England manager - 90% of the time your hammering shiete, 5% of the time you are playing someone who is at least competitive and then the other 5% your in over your head.
The Nations league was supposed to help - but Southgate just didn’t seem to take it at all seriously the last time round
For all the stick Southgate gets, you'll not see a champions league standard knocking about in international football really.
I'm happy for him to have the next tournament and suspect half of his conservatism is due to our cb options being shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
