XL Bully Ban incoming

I’m on team ban. They’re clearly dangerous dogs. As I understand, while no official metrics on dog attacks in UK, groups that try to gain this information estimate 43% of dog attacks in UK are these breeds. They’re intensively in bred (ja bans proper use of word lol) for aggression and ultimately unlike other breeds a) you probably do need special and unique training as an owner to keep it safe b) what’s the point in society of even having a dog bred like this.

There has to be regulation, no one should have a right to own a dangerous animal. Some dog breeds it doesn’t matter how they’re raised they won’t go out and kill people. Either regulate people who can own dangerous breeds or just ban them imo

If it's illegal it gets put down

Lethal weapons in the wrong hands. Shame for those that have trained theirs properly

Actually great dogs trained appropriately but way too many dckheads who have them for the wrong reasons, they be able to ban that kinda tool owner as well

Bred to kill, they are not family pets, even if they have been trained they can turn at any moment.

Yeah, often the owners are too young or too lightweight to own let alone control one.

Think you're missing the point? Sections of society buy them specifically because they want the image and edginess that such an animal adds to their persona.

Add to that the deliberate cutting of ears to make them look even more aggressive and it probably ought to be banned. BTW instead of banning the cutting of ears they needed to ban the owning of a cut eared dog too before now.

The footage of that guy being attacked after it had attacked the girl sent shivers down my spine. The dog jumped at hit, bit him at shoulder hit, clung on and brought him down.

2 dogs killed that man today and i cannot imagine how utterly terrifying that would be for him and anyone witnessing it.

These dogs do not seem to be owned by responsible owners so should be banned. Those with them already should at the least be muzzled but that will not help them when on private property and tehre are bound to be more tragic accidents.

I've always found it weird that they use the term "destroy" when they're going to kill a dangerous dog.

Dogs are considered property by the law.

What happens to those dogs already part of the family, will they have to be destroyed?

Hopefully. Should be some sort of amnesty I reckon where existing owners have say 3 months to have them put down (via a subsidised payment) after which it then becomes punishable by law to own one.

It should be compulsory for the owners to be destroyed with their dogs

Well it should be. They are the problem. They will just get the model down from the XL and train it in the same way. The only difference is that victims will just die slightly more slowly, prolonging the suffering. Before the dogs are destroyed, they should be made to eat their owners. Like in the final scene of silence of the lambs with the pigs. I think it's that film anyway.

I understand the ban on breeding, I find putting down dogs already raised very harsh.

posted on 15/9/23

Won’t the people who just want a big tough looking dog to train to be aggressive and dangerous just get a different kind of dog and still have the same or very similar result? Are the dogs like that in nature more than other breeds, and the ‘good’ ones people have that are loving and nice the exception?

posted on 15/9/23

They should create an XL bully farm somewhere, and owners have to cover the cost of neutering and taking care of the dogs until they die. They can visit if they want.
Given the nature of the dogs, they'll probably kill each other in a few months anyway, so it won't cost much.

posted on 15/9/23

Good. No point to those dogs. Though I’m not sure what they’ll do with the dogs after ban. Putting down seems harsh

Well mr Busby I put this to you, what are more of a threat to people's lives and killed someone today, ones that have already been raised or ones that haven't been bred yet, hence don't exist?

or leave them unneutered so they breed like bunnies, revert to their wolf-style pack mentality, and then attack the humans to take over the world.

Could sell them to a local Korean bbq joint?

Might seem harsh but it’s only a dog at the end of the day, no point getting knickers in a twist over a dumb animal, put them down and ban them, end of.
