Rice probably the player Arsenal needed but Bellingham is the better player overall by an absolute mile.

He will be the best ever English player.

Doesn't do any fancy stuff in the final third,

===

Certainly won't see him doing rabonas or flip flaps, but the way he progresses the ball into the final 3rd is excellent.

Should've had a quality assist Vs palace, and had 2 or 3 similar passes into that area yesterday.

He really is top class. Lots of people, without really watching him, assumed he's no good on the ball. But he is.

And as you mention, off the ball he is excellent. He's so clean with his tackling.

Should be a perfect pair. Southgate probably won't get the best out of them.

Can you imagine if we'd somehow signed Bellingham too? Both of those under arteta would've been a midfield for the ages.

Different players. We needed Rice more than Bellingham.

I think when given time and space he looks quality on the ball. Under the press he keeps the ball well but that is where his slight technical deficiencies show, he is safe, not so gifted as to be able to continue to pick incisive passes under pressure.

Just my observations from England and a bit of Arsenal. But he also has been brainwashed a bit by Safegate and Moyes so is still developing his ability and putting the ball at risk instead of safely back and sideways.

Bissouma will show him how its done next week

We could do with both Bellingham and Rice.

If we could choose, I'd have kept Partey at DM and have Bellingham at AM (or whatever the position that was left by Xhaka). Obviously we were never going to get Bellingham so it's irrelevant anyway.

Rice seems a solid player, not sure he'll ever justify the price tag but we'll see.

Partey at DM and Rice further might be interesting, looks unlikely Hazertz will miraculously prove all the doubters wrong at this stage.

Amazing what level of midfield we could have if we had an England manager that actually had a clue.

Honestly this is where I think people have been brainwashed by FIFA and the modern over-analysis of football and statistics.

What would have you thought of Roy Keane or even Vieira in the modern game? They need to improve in the final 3rd and not sure they are worth the money?

Already buzzing/nervous for it tbh. What a massive game it is, very thankful we are at home.

It's more about whether you could pay less for the same output regardless of position. Not that you can ever truly know I guess.

But for 105m that should mean even in today's market that you're buying a player in the top 10 in his position in the world.

Hope so, still a lot to prove.

Looking forward to the NLD. Think Arsenal will have the edge but think it will be enjoyable.

To become #TBE English player, he’d have to win a World Cup, and at least 5 major club titles (PLs, Pro Leagues, La Ligas).

I think Bobby Charlton is currently #1 and Rooney #2

Isn't that "most successful" as opposed to best? not disagreeing but some fairly average English players have a fair few league, cup wins etc?

Love how Liquid slipper Pro Leagues in there.

Safegate in a nutshell. Utter dullard of a defensive manager will fail to utilise our best squad in years. He'll try and shoehorn Mount and Phillips into that midfield along with Rice and Bellingham. That team needs building around Bellingham and Rice with Jude the advancing player, Rice the holding one.

How many World Cups did Rooney win out of interest?
