Used to be all the rage in the noughties if I recall...Don't care...They need content as long as it pays for that content and I don't need to pay for it..meh

Some opinions even from non experts are worth listening tbh...Some of them are funny too...I prefer them to the self inflated egos of some experts tbh

posted on 21/9/23

Tbf I barely give a s*** about what most of the pundits on there say anyway, and these segments just eat into that punditry time, so it makes no difference to me.

More Ex Pros are not worth listening to. O'Hara, Cundy, Danny Mills, Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Carra, Ian Wright, Jenus, Micah Richards can all get in the bin.

There's loads more.

You guys have the goat podcaster/YouTuber in Expressions. I would rather listen to him that Tim Sherwood.

I'm not sure. The podcasters can at least string a cohesive sentence together but the interview with the man in the street is just a total waste of time.

I love football analysis, be it a Spurs game or not, I'm just interested in the detail of the game. That's what I want to see from pundits. The bits we don't necessarily see. So when they deliver lowest common denominator content from the fan in the street, it doesn't inform.

This is the difference between an informed opinion and a bloke in the street and look how this one played out

We now live in a world where your 5 minutes of fame is now more easy to obtain. Thanks to social media and Youtube any old caaant can get famous. Some might say that's a good thing, I don't. It just means talent is being relied upon less to get people in the spotlight and we end up seeing more idiots on our screens.

So Fridge, do you want to silence the every day fan or customers as some CEO's might view them?

Might as well close this site down as well.

Am I the only one who couldn't give a shiiiit what Dave, a builder from Woodford, thinks of the application of the inverted full back and whether Porro has the skillset to master that role?

He asks, on a football forum, where 90% of the posters all have an unwavering opinion about fackin' everything.

Did you even read it properly...

"Can we not just hear from the ex-pros that know what they're talking about and leave the ordinary fan in the shadows of the football forums such as this one?"

I'm not saying close down opinion. I'm saying it's worthless content on a subscription Sports channel. That's why we have places like this. Only those that join see our views and I'm totally fine with that. Why do any of us have a divine right to a large platform. We don't. It's so self-absorbed to think we do.

Finally, a logical response.

You're totally right. Plus not only do we get more and more talentless people on our screens, we're also breeding an army of deluded, self-important monsters who actually think they have something worthy to say. It's bleak. Really bleak.

Nope, I'm largely languid to the opinions of others so just skim over them.

That actually supports the opposite argument I was making. If they're dynamite like that, I'm all for it. The problem is they're not. If it were uncensored and live, I'd be well up for it just to wait for someone to throw a c-bomb in there but they'll just find the most vanilla response they can to put out.

So you support my point in that hearing from fans is just dull and uninspired. Nice one. Glad we can agree on something.

Absolutely. But I also feel that way about hearing the views of ex-pros, current pros, managers and journalists.

That's got nothing to do with it. I've seen plenty of vox pop interviews with Spurs fans who I've completely agreed with that I still don't want to see.

It won't be long before we have a dedicated programme on Sky where we watch the game, not through the eyes of a pundit on Soccer Saturday, but on CCTV in a pub somewhere with blokes intermittently shouting at the screen every five minutes. That's where things are heading.

They did similar years ago when they decided to get a fan of each club to commentate.

And that went down like a shiiiit sandwich. When will they ever learn?

If I remember rightly, that was a red button option so you could silence them if you want. My guess is that it died pretty quickly because most fans couldn't stop calling the ref a cvnt on a Sunday lunchtime.

I feel this way too, im so tired of the above literally saying the same things week in week out, a bit of passion from fans is a good thing imo.

Different horses for different courses I guess but even though I love the game, I consider most football fans effin' morons that usually have repugnant views about women and immigrants so the less I hear from them the better.

I realise that might not be the most sensible thing to say on a football forum but there it is

Love the game, hate the fans.

En masse they're fine as they create a brilliant atmosphere. It's just when you hear from them individually you realise how it was possible so many people voted for Brexit.

I find the build up and post match analysis of football a bit dull, so generally watch the game then flick the channel. The reason I liked the old 606 site so much was the banter (when it arose) was highly entertaining. Remember we dabbled with live audio commentary on match threads 2013 ish, some of it was way more entertaining than listening to commentary on the TV. I'm for the "vox pop" stuff punctuating sport as I like a good chuckle.
