He was also over the other side of the pitch. He would have been in the same position as the lineman on that side at the halfway line.
I'm 95% sure the officials can't have seen it. Not to the degree they were certain it was a red card. It was given on the reaction which is wrong. If they don't know, they shouldn't give it and then let VAR correct them (which i think it would have done in this instance). Making a decision when you don't know is the wrong way to go about it, as that decision has to be overturned.
VAR did not overturn the penalty which they obviously should have done and I wonder if it was because he was a new ref and they did not wish to show him up.
Either way, VAR is a shambles and unless it improves they should get rid.
Has there recently been a nationwide poll on VAR? A couple of years ago I was undecided, now I would get rid. My guess is that more than 50% of supporters, particularly those who go to matches, would do so too.
We could go on forever about the VAR decision, but it won't change the fact that we were woefully second best for most of this game.
I said before we have the players to get up the table, but the line up and system were wrong in my opinion. Why we went 4-2-3-1 beggars belief against the bottom club and to have Cunha playing as the front man was crazy. Hwang is not a starter, despite his goals. He's better suited as an impact sub. Plus I'm still concerns that Sasa isn't getting any game time.
Tuesday's game against Ipswich may well see us revert to a back 3 and I hope there some changes in defense and attack. But O'Neil has to be very careful, as Ipswich are doing well and are far better than Blackpool.
Not sure i understand why 4-2-3-1 beggars belief?

Its because Wolfie is obsessed with playing 3 at the back and he won't accept anything else. Even when we were picking up points under Lopetegui last season he was banging that drum.
4-2-3-1 should have been more than ample yesterday.

Appears Fabio has already fallen out of favour doesn't it?
Surprised Sasa isn't deemed capable yet, he should be far enough along to give 60-75 mins by now.
I think Fabio would have featured yesterday had we not been down to ten men. All our substitutions seemed to be to prioritise fresh defensive legs.
Any forward that plays in our team will be deemed not good enough. Sasa is considered the answer as he isn't playing. I'm sure that a few games isolated up front with little service will soon fix that.
Possibly, but i do think a majority would just be happy with a CF actually playing where he is supposed to and in his best position.
We play 4-3-3 against Liverpool and out play them.. for 45 minutes .Then against the bottom club we play Cunha up front who is not a CF and who is completely isolated. Does that not register with some
Anyone think one issue we have is a lack of leadership on the pitch?
Kilman doesn't cut it for me at all.
Could be an opportune moment to remind our resident pant wetters that we currently sit just one point behind a team that have spent over £1bk.
Let’s just calm down and enjoy the roller coaster ride that is ‘supporting” this great club of ours.
Chelsea are a complete disaster. What is going on there???
I think it was a mistake not to pick a centre forward yesterday and I’d have been happy with Sasa or Fabio. The line up we went with was fine against Liverpool and might be ok against City next week. But yesterday when we should have been taking the game to Luton but couldn’t because the front line had no target man and nobody to hold the ball up. Neto needed someone to cross to, Cunha and Hwang needed someone to feed off and then without Bellegarde we also had no one to drive forward from midfield. All in all if Luton could have chosen Wolves tactics they would have chosen what they got. We need to play with far more attacking courage against that quality of opposition

I think yesterday, we allowed them to play through the lines too easily. Against Liverpool we pressed high. When their keeper had the ball, all our forwards and midfielders were pushed onto the Liverpool players giving no options and forcing mistakes.
Yesterday, we sat off and allowed Luton to get out of their own half easily, create overloads and condense the pitch to make it physical. It makes no sense to me why we would stop pressing against a lower quality opposition. Luton would have been much less equipped to deal with the press than Liverpool. We played into their hands in the opening 25 minutes.
No idea why he started Hwang on the left and Neto on the right either. GON must be the only person who watches Neto's performance against Liverpool on thw left, sees Hwang score from the right and then thinks, I'll switch them flanks next week.
Nice to see us transition to a more improved, dynamic and attacking midfield though, instead of the one dimensional and slow Neves sitting in front of the back four spraying hopeful diagonal passes to the channels.
Newcastle battering Sheffield so at least we're still well clear of the relegation zone. Something to build on..😀
