Great performance from Wales, against what was one of the poorest Aussie sides I have ever seen, but you can only beat what is in front of you. Wales will fancy their chances of getting to the semis, but there is quite a step to match any of the 'big 4' after that.

Yeah. I agree. We do have pretty much three weeks off now to recover and prepare before the Quarters. You never know but semi final at best IMO. Perhaps a third place play off v England!

I'm Irish, so obviously my loyalties lie elsewhere. For me, there is a distinct gap between the top 4 and the rest. Of course upsets can happen, but hoping we can keep it going. Maybe Wal v Fiji 3rd / 4th place off

It was a 'proper rugby match'. Either team could have won it, defences so strong, and for me, still lots to work on for both teams. Neither team was at their best, which I think is a positive for both teams, and complacency won't set in.
I thought before the match, regardless of result, it would be a SA v IRE final, still feel that way.

I just think a 'wounded NZ' could be a very dangerous animal. But I love the focus and mental toughness of our current squad, AF working wonders and we keep finding a way, so just hope we can keep it up.
I think it would take something really special for Eng or Wal to even beat NZ, for me, it's been a very noticeable gap in the level of play amongst the top teams in both sides of the draw.

Just the way it is. Got to beat the top teams at some point. I've watched all the WCs, even if we don't win it, this squad has a mental strength and belief that I haven't seen before - its our consistency or performance that has impressed me most, just hope we maintain for a few more weeks

Ireland have tended to underperform at WCs, but should have really made the semis in either 2011 or 2015, when we lost to Wales and Arg. Hopefully this will be the year we bring it all together....this current squad, for me, definitely has a different feel about it mentally

Great performance from Wales, against what was one of the poorest Aussie sides I have ever seen, but you can only beat what is in front of you. Wales will fancy their chances of getting to the semis, but there is quite a step to match any of the 'big 4' after that.

Are you writing off NZ? I'm not, and it seems likely we (Ire) will meet them in the QF. It helps that we have had good recent results against them, but I would still call it a 50-50 game

Not writing them off as such but the gap is between the top three and then the rest. NZ are the best of the others, but it’s far more likely Wales or England beat them than they beat the top three.
Personally I think South Africa will win it. Would like to see Ireland or France win it though (aside from Wales!)

I just think a 'wounded NZ' could be a very dangerous animal. But I love the focus and mental toughness of our current squad, AF working wonders and we keep finding a way, so just hope we can keep it up.
I think it would take something really special for Eng or Wal to even beat NZ, for me, it's been a very noticeable gap in the level of play amongst the top teams in both sides of the draw.

I agree about the others but not NZ. It’d be a close game between them and Wales. I do think they’d beat England fairly easily though.

Ireland always seem to get absolutely stinking draws, don't we? Whether it's France or NZ, it's going to be a very tough quarter final assignment

Just the way it is. Got to beat the top teams at some point. I've watched all the WCs, even if we don't win it, this squad has a mental strength and belief that I haven't seen before - its our consistency or performance that has impressed me most, just hope we maintain for a few more weeks

It could we a Wales v Ireland SF. I'd rather play Ireland than NZ even though I think Ireland are better. We have a mental block v NZ.

Ireland have tended to underperform at WCs, but should have really made the semis in either 2011 or 2015, when we lost to Wales and Arg. Hopefully this will be the year we bring it all together....this current squad, for me, definitely has a different feel about it mentally
