Why do people always go over the top work former youth players? He’s sat on the bench for a year at a team that should have been relegated, had 1 good game and now it’s ‘why did we let him go?’

The answer is simple. He’s nowhere near good enough for a top half team. Let alone a team that should be aiming for the top

Hes also a scouser. Maybe an Everton fan?

Good luck to him. He was never really going to break into the United starting 11... for a while at least. He gets games at Everton.

No he isn't!

Is he starting to shine? Everton have been sh-t all season apart from the weekend. Didn't he also play out of position on the right and played as a fullback for the England U21s?

I think people need to understand that the standard of our youth teams these days aren't anywhere near as good as they once were or close to other clubs such as City or Chelsea.

Sorry 52, but he isn’t starting to shine for them. He has hardly played. Most of his appearances have been from the bench.

I think you are getting carried away again.

Like Hannibal just has. Or Mainoo was tipped to before his injury.

I like him. Very pleased he's at Everton. Has all the attributes to be a top player.

3Everton garner new midfield talent
James Garner’s decisive display, playing a part in two of Everton’s goals, was the latest example of a purported elite club’s youth product showing out for someone else. Keen students of Manchester United’s academy were aghast when a star of the club’s representative teams was allowed to join Everton last year, having been a popular, effective player when loaned to Nottingham Forest. Bred as a central midfielder but playing off the left at Brentford, Garner, in tandem with Dwight McNeil – another one-time United trainee – on the other wing, caused repeated problems for the Bees’ injury-riddled and reconfigured defence. “He works ever so hard,” said an approving Sean Dyche. “He’s got a lovely honesty about him, he’s a very good player, and he’s very adaptable.” Such a work ethic, coupled with a dash of class on the ball, makes him an archetypal Evertonian, the likes of which are required if his club’s battle against relegation is to be won. Oh sorry, 52. I thought this was about the Maverick guy.

He did pretty well for Forest as well.

firstly why did we let him go?

Cos he isn’t that good. and wasn’t guaranteed game time. Probably would have kept him myself.
