With another pun?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT DID YOU DO
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm seeking recognition for my punning clan.
I mean this is funny but United fans are really, really spoilt. I get that you don't really have much direction from the top down but at least you spend big, if a little badly at times. For years at Spurs we've neither spent big nor well, and that's only changed over the last year or so, with sounder investments in potential/youth starting up again. We've not won a trophy since 2008 yet here you lot are moaning about the ownership when even during your barren years, you've hoovered up trophies that would be defined as a glittering period for most clubs. So what, you're not the dominant force you once were. We haven't been since the 60s. You don't have a divine right to success.
It's weird because I used to like United because you had a spine of talented young players from the class of 92 throughout Ferguson's tenure that held that dressing room together and kept up the standards instilled in them by Eric Harrison. Anyone that didn't keep up those standards was out. Now they're all gone and you've just got a dressing room full of mercenaries, happy to pick up the money. That's what happens when you just throw money at a problem. It's never the answer. I loathe United now because they're trying to buy success when in truth, the reason for your extended dominance lied in youth development. Then success gave you money and allowed you to dominate but it all started with those kids, really. They also had good pros before them in Robson, Bruce, Pallister, Ince, Irwin. You've lost your leaders but that's not on the ownership. They've put the money up historically. The only thing they haven't done is employ someone to oversee structural change. You need to buy less Anthony's and Casemiro's and plunge funds into scouting and youth development, a new training facility, stadium upgrades. Look at 10 years down the line and stop looking at tomorrow. It's so painfully obvious and I'm an outsider.
