So another apology

why couldnt the yellow suffice for that tackle? ref got it right, i think most would accept yellow for bad tackles that are an accidental or part of the game but subsequently hurt an opponent. Reds too much. In a way VARs forced the ref into the wrong decision after getting it right in the first place?

hopefully they look at that rule in the future.

Of all the apologies, this has to be the worst one yet in terms of it being completely avoidable. Surely when any goal is disallowed for offside, it must be checked? Like, every single time. So this isn't like a slightly grey area, it's just incredible laziness / incompetence.

Also when will we get the video technology they use in europe for offsides in the prem? it seems way better and more accurate! none of this draw the lines on urself bollox

posted on 30/9/23

hows the prem actually got worse technology than uefa? with all the money in the prem?

We had the same against Brentford last season, where they "forget to put the lines on".
How long can "incompetence" be an excuse?

That’s what I scratch my head at too

European games don’t have this nonsense and we all use same tech so the only issue has to be the morons reviewing the footage

I mean the fackers apparently are in their ref kit so they feel part of the onfield ref team. I mean ffs, how about actually just do your job in the first place instead of doing ajohn terry.

Maybe that's part of the problem. Mike Dean openly admitted that he wanted to protect his mate on the field when in VAR. I think a lot of the bad VAR decision come from the officials not wanting to make their mate look bad.

Perhaps it would be better if the VAR team were kept completely separate from the onfield officials. Make so they make an objective call without any other influences.

You did. Except Welshpool, who told us it was part of the game and we all get bad VAR decisions. So I have sympathy for most Liverpool fans, but hope he is absolutely seething at the moment.

I think it was Toti who scored that goal though.

This definitely should happen. There's the added factor that if you are perceived to have wronged your mate, he may repay the compliment in a future game when roles are reversed. It's a conflict of interest.

However, when it comes to factual calls like offsides, that shouldn't be an issue. You're not debatably calling out a "clear and obvious" error of judgement but just using technology to definitively prove whether something is or isn't onside, when in real time it was difficult to do so. There's no real stigma to that so no need to protect a mate

hopefully we get some go our way soon, seems like we've already had a bunch against us. so many that 1 loss away at spurs isnt all that bad tbh.

i felt the jones was a red initially because it looked bad, but you cant send people off because it looks bad in slow motion and still frames. Its a contact sport end of the day. Hes got the ball first and its just unfortunate afterwards, can see why those who have played the game, neville etc say its not a red.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a definately a red card if the players foot is high enough to only clip the top of the ball then it's too high. There's every chance his boot actually bounces off the top of ball which means he goes straight into the players shin which is what pretty much happened which in turn is clearly dangerous and could cause serious injury.

The standard of refereeing getting even worse has coincided with Howard Webb being put in charge.
