Agreed.

He must only officiate on Liverpool games from this point forward.

Liverpool fans will only accept refs that helped them 👍

All the other refs are incompetent 🤣🤣🤣

for VAR, they say 'significant human error'..

i say 4 significant errors..

the rules on var:
What will the VAR review?
- Goal/no goal
- Penalty/no penalty
- Direct red card (not second yellow card/caution)
- Mistaken identity (when the referee cautions or sends off the wrong player)

What will it not review?
- Any yellow card (including second yellow card leading to red)
- Any free-kick offence outside the box, unless a red card offence or if it leads to a goal/penalty

so based on that..

1st error: VAR should not have intervened when jones was given a yellow..

2nd error:
Slow-mo is only used to judge the point of contact on a foul or handball. Over-riding judgements should always be made from real-time replay.

so the 10 seconds of static image displaying the worst possible moment of the tackle, followed by the slo-mo replay is completely against the var regulations and would have obviously introduced bias into the refs decision to overturn the initial decision.

3rd error: the disallowed onside goal..
where to even start with this? what was var doing? why did they not tell the ref they pressed the wrong button (check complete) and do the check again? they could have easily done that before the game restarted..
did they actually do the check? i've yet to see an official var image with the lines.. the only ones i've seen published were created by the broadcasters.
and why did the on-pitch linesmen give offside? he was nearly a metre onside.. a properly trained linesmen should not be getting on offside decision that wrong.

4th error: jota's 1st yellow..
yes. it's a yellow... just like for jones, var should not have got involved... but then again...
- Mistaken identity (when the referee cautions or sends off the wrong player)
given there was no contact, and udogie kicked/tripped himself.. it can be argued that a yellow should have gone to udogie for simulation (since once down he continued to pretend he was fouled).

This better team were outplayed by 9 men and it took an own goal to get them over line.

Yes your keeper pulled off great saves to keep you in the game otherwise it would have been 4-1 thrashing

We camped in your half and Liverpool resorted to long balls to Salah

If Liverpool players weren't petulant they wouldn't. Been sent off!

It doesn't matter who you support, if this clown is in charge of a game for your team over time you will get fkd over,
---------
That makes no sense. If he fks over one team then the other team has benefitted.

Yesterday was a disgrace and I’m sure all Spurs fans agree with me. We don’t want to win like that, the red card was debatable but the offside was of course a ridiculous error by VAR
We know how you feel though. Weve had so many stupid decisions go against us at places like Old Trafford, Chelsea and Anfield

This is a football fan right here. He knows poor officiating will come right back and affect his time at sone point, we need to stick together and call out this incompetence.

Well played sire

He's set to be placed in a pillory in Liverpool city centre, so Jamie Carragher can spit at him for several hours

I guarantee if he continues to ref in the premier league then fans of other teams will be fuming with his decisions, because, he is just not very good!
------------------------------------------------------------------

SO his two "mistakes" as you call them were VAR driven or not spotted as in the disallowed goal where the linesman flagged for offside.

How doe sthat make him a bad ref if he has a dodgy linesman and a VAR call you disagree with?

I must say I'm a bit confused by the arguments over the Jones red card.

I didn't see it until MOTD, but in this day and age it's a clear red. No intent, but definitely dangerous. We've seen quite a few red cards like that in recent seasons with little or no furore about them.

I don't know if I misunderstood a previous comment on here, but VAR can and regularly does intervene to check if a yellow card should be 'upgraded' to a red.

I agree the ref should be watching the full incident rather than a freeze frame of the challenge, but I don't think on this occasion it would have helped Jones.

Exactly.

Not only was it a dangerous/horrendous 'tackle' but it's exactly the kind of threat to a player's short-term (or even long-term) career that rules about dangerous play are supposed to deal with.

The whining from scouse-land would have been louder than usual if an opposition player did that to someone like Salah (before he could carry out one of his trademark dives i might add) and broke his ankle. tibia or fibula.

The rules have to be universally applied. Jones broke the rules big style, and that is what he was rightly sent off for - regardless of malice or incompetence.
