City or Liverpool

The answer is never Liverpool

I couldn’t care less about any success City might have, I just view it with a cool detachment, like how it should be viewed

Thanks for the affirmation people, I was waning, considering Liverpool, but the sentient replies have swung me back to the Force.

Indeed.

The question is, as a person, which would you handle better? Not asking for empirical evidence, just opinions.

It will be City, they handed out the brown envelopes on Thursday to the officials in advance of yesterdays match to make sure they stayed top. Plenty more of that to come.

I fancy us for 3rd and some cup runs and think that will represent good progress.

Neither but, Liverpool is the bigger rival as like ourselves, they haven’t been financially doped and have earned their success from building teams

City, whilst being an unarguably fantastic team, doesn’t really mean as much if they do win as it wasn’t an organic process to get there.

‘Organic process’?! Come on man, no such thing in the PL with billions chucked about

Not sure what that has to do with how clubs get to be in that position in the first place. It’s not every club that finds themself able to spunk that kind of money

City will get their sheite together and win it again. And some ridicule the Scottish League.

I suggest you read Gary James's 'Manchester - A Football History'.

Excellent book, a bit of a tome but all bases are covered.

The book reveals how both clubs have skeletons in their closets and how both have had significant financial leg-ups over the last 120 years.

Boris, Boris, Boris......just when I thought we were seeing eye to eye again.

The financial leg ups United have experienced haven't been remotely close to what we've seen at PSG, Chelsea and City and you know it. Why carry on this ridiculous charade?

PSG and City had won 3 league titles between them in their entire history before the money arrived. What's the total now? 20? Can't be far off. It's only been 14/15 years too.

The financial landscape has never been changed as dramatically in football as what we've seen with these types of clubs. That's just a fact.

No doubt if this Qatar sale ever does go through we will get the whole country protesting to block it because they will know what the consequences could be for everyone else.

posted on 2/10/23

The financial leg-ups have been significant insofar as they have saved the clubs from going out of business.

The amounts of money are obviously different now but if they hadn’t happened we could all be on here discussing Manchester Central F.C. as City and United would have folded decades ago.

Maybe so but comparing saving a club from going out of business to transforming a few small to medium sized clubs into almost unstoppable juggernauts through oil money nothing to do with them is a stretch even for you.

It's two different conversations. I'd have never wanted City to go out of business and I'm sure you'd not want Utd to go either. What fun would that be for either of us? No derby games to look forward to? No thanks.

It seems inevitable we will be joining you soon anyway with our Qatari overlords. Never wanted that day at United to ever come but in all honesty it can't be any worse than more years of the Glazers. Nothing would.

man utd fans wishing for LFC 20 is hilarious.

Man city will win the league by 15 points this year. I am not quite sure they are good enough to win more than that however. They've had a good run of it but are due a few injuries etc ad their squad doesn't quite look up to the rotation required to pull this off again.

No Utd fan wants LFC winning anything. I'd rather see City win the next 4 than you lot win one. 😂

I pretty much agree with this. The one caveat is the reason we have those kind of owners in football is entirely due to the actions of clubs like Liverpool and United in the first place.

I’ve always advocated a change to pre-nineties rules of ownership and distribution. You don’t seem to be arguing for that though, you seem to more want the cake and eat it approach.

To be fair, are any of City's achievements notable?

It's juts a money laundering operation.
