Spurs - next steps

I think Toney makes the most sense.

I don't think Id sell GLC, worth keeping as back up to Madders. I can't help thinking there's a player in there somewhere.... I hope AngeBall suits him more than the

defensive pragmatic style of Conte. After all, if it wasn't for injury he would have started for an Argie team that went on to win the WC

Another creative forward like Eze, in case Madds gets injured or just cause we need one. If we are interested in Toney and we can get him then sure. If not maybe revisit our interest in Orban, unless he's totally gone off the boil by then.

Hopefully, fingers crossed with no injuries at the back, lack of game time might convince Dier to move on, and we can look into other CBs.

What we shouldn't do if we are in a strong position by January is to make a half hearted effort again to give ourselves an extra push, by getting half fit pensioners, a la Saha and Nelson back in 2011/12.

Given January windows are limited and real qulity not easily avilble, realistically ( and to avoid panic buying ) we should look to cover for:

CB. We all agree outside of Romero and VDV our options are not up to it, clearly a third decent CB is a priority.

Maddison. Yes we have Bentenkaur soon back but is not a natural playmaker. GLC not up to it.

LB. Similar to Maddison, our current cover not all that. EG Davies, Sess. Decent cover needed.

CF. Again outside of Son, yes we have some cover but none are proven 15/20 goal a season players.

As I said, January not a good time to go shopping and, to be honest, I would prefer to keep powder dry if we cannot get quality in these areas, and hope one game a week results in minimal injuries to key payers.

agreed.... He's a fantastic player, would be brilliant on the right.. something different to Kulu

Eze is injured and ruled out for a few weeks.

Neto has had an horrible injury too but looks like his old self.

Both talented but risky.

definitely a CB and a forward minimum requirement, not sure about Toney prefer a Watkins type player and think Ange would

Tricky to identify - would want to get players who improve the first XI not just add depth to the bench, supplemented with a few youngsters who can grow into the squad.

Wouldn't buy a LB just now. Udogie looks like he could become a world-beater and no point buying a backup who could stunt his progression. Davies and VdV can cover.

CB needs depth but wouldn't want to get an established CB who would keep VdV out of the team. I think Philips was a good signing and I'd rather see him play if VdV or Romero is out, rather than spending more for a backup.

Think the only spot in the side where the first XI could be quite significantly improved is on the wings (LW especially if Son is playing as a 9 now). I like the idea of Pedro Neto, or alternatively someone like Yeremy Pino who is young, rapid, dribbly and probably wouldn't cost the earth

The only signing that makes sense is Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth to cover VDV and Udogie.

The only issue is his level of quality. I have no idea if he is good enough but for the rest of the season he could be useful.

Signing an attacker makes sense, especially as Son is off the Asian Cup. Nico Williams has been mentioned before. His contract runs out next summer. Brighton have been watching him as well.

When Son goes we are left with

Richy, Johnson, Solomon, Kulu and Veliz.

You could be right.

For me though the attack is key to this style.

Even with the players we have, it has probably been teh least impressive bit of our renaissance.

Within that list i see Son Richy & Deki as a quality front three but perhaps still lacking something.

The back up in Johnsson looks to have real potential and Solomon looks OK.

Veliz is a kid.

I would much rather see 5 top drawer attackers, Son Deki Richy, Johnson + one other quality addition, with Solomon and Veliz as squad depth which will see.

May be Gil helps this but imagine getting a Toney or similar to really add quality and options. I think Eze would give us options wide and through the middle, he could cover more than one area.

From Ange's point if view (we still have no DoF btw) does he start planning for Europe next season in January? I don't want to tempt fate but it is a possibility.

We can all agree when everyone is fit(Bentancur included) the defence and GK is the weakest area of the squad in terms of depth. Except for RB.

We are stacked up top and could promote Donley who has been training with the first team but he has been playing in the Madders role for the U21's.

We could try and loan a player in from abroad until the summer if needed as well. Lots of options and decisions to be made I guess.

Some bloke called Graham Bailey :

Tottenham continuing to monitor Jota's situation ahead of likely Al Ittihad exit.

Ange Postecoglou loved working with the Portuguese forward at Celtic.

Spurs are not only club keeping tabs on the situation.

Ange has a decent record in the transfer market ... .you can see that already in your squad with Van Der Ven & Udogie. You may have to be patient until the Summer though because as has been said there's not much available in January. He may dip his toes into the Japanese market which he knows very well (Celtic fan)

Kubo who plays in Spain. Started off really well this season. Ex Real Madrid. They have 50% ownership of him.
