Fortress Elland Road

Also (and yes, I’ve had a bowl of stats for brekky😁), in terms of DF’s comment that we need goals from all over the pitch, we’ve had 12 different players on the scoresheet so far this season (all comps) and of the current top 6 in the Champ, we’re 2nd in that tally only to Ipswich:

Ipswich = 15 different scorers.
Leeds = 12.
Leicester = 9.
Preston = 9.
Sunderland = 9.
Birmingham = 9.

Bodes well (again!😁).

I think we are in for a good season, which I doubted when we were losing players in the transfer window.
We have brought in some good players, we are not missing the ones that left, and we have one of the best managers in the division.
So I agree we are in a good place at the moment and Ithink it will get better.

That's a really good point. Farke emphasised that he wanted to restore Fortress ER before the season began as one of his priorities. We let a sloppy one in yesterday but overall we've been so much tighter at the back.

Have just watched the game in full and must say that Pearson has put a really good side together there. Naismith earned his goal and Pring did well to handle our attack.

We should have won that 6-1. A14 predicted that we're going to give somebody a right old hammering soon and I think he's right.

Georginio has become a monster, almost unplayable at times and yet shows the delicacy of a ballet dancer.

Summerville is on fire, regularly - he's just a bit selfish sometimes.

Piroe is apparently invisible and yet scores five in eight.

Anthony looks promising.

Even Dan James is popping up with goals and assists, one or two of them delightful, although Bamford is still Bamford.

And we still have Willy Gnonto to come back!

Ampadu ran the midfield but Kamara was excellent - he reminds me of Olivier Dacourt.

Gray and Byram were both excellent. Rodon and Struijk were both excellent.

Apart from the missed chances, we dominated, again, a very good side and deserved the points - until we got to 75 minutes when it got a bit nervy and we seemed to lose our way a bit and they came on strong.

Not sure what Farke can do to avoid the final nervy 20 mins of a game - it'd be better if we'd netted one of those earlier clear chances.

Even so, I am mightily pleased by that performance. Can't think of anybody who didn't perform well, apart from maybe Paddy Bamford?

If we get into the habit of attaining two goal margins on a regular basis, we're almost there. Nervy last ten minutes is a real pain for all concerned.

Piroe was invisable.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy he scored and hope he continues to, but you can see why he wasn't on premiership radars when we got him.

Premiership defenders would easily stop him. He has goals in him but not much else and world class defenders will easily see to him.

But, that said, he is what we need now so I don't care about premiership defenders, he just needs to keep doing against championship ones

You may well be right, Matty, and it is strange that none of the PL clubs came after him...

BUT...

he may become an entirely different and maybe even better sort of player at Leeds. He's still young, only just coming into his prime. He's got plenty of self-confidence, built on solid foundations at Swansea. And he's playing under a manager who knows what he's doing. He's also playing alongside the likes of Georginio and Summerville, all of them hungry for goals.

Don't think they've totally clicked as a team yet but they're getting there, and somebody is going to take a pasting when they do.

didn't we sign ampadu, kamara, and gruev for less than we paid for adams?

Correct kammy, the club did some good business in the window, both outgoings and incomings.

I think our recruitment in the summer has been phenomenal.

To lose tye amount of players we did yet still be as strong as we are in terms of depth is a real achievement

Rodon still hasn’t been beaten as a Leeds player, he’s definitely our best CB and also brings Struijk’s game up…they are forming a good partnership. Hadn’t rated Kamara, but that was a good performance.

Been out all day, anyone watch MOTD last night/this morning, Tyler Adams likely to need another operation.
I, of course wish him a speedy recovery.

The only thing Piroe does well is score goals. Well, isn't that a novelty we can get used to, seeing as our previous strikers were all allergic to onion bags?
DF's comments about him were spot on last week. I have no doubt we will see a monster of a striker once he beds in to this team and this way of playing.

Talking to a Spurs supporter yesterday who has a ST. He said we got a really good player and many were gutted to see him leave.
