Michael Oliver....

He couldn't wait to make a big show of not giving that. He seems like the kind of arrogant c**t to not give a yellow there just because he knows everyone thinks he should.

Pep will take Kovacic off at HT and they'll have got away with one.

It's due to the referee having in his own mind what makes for a good game and deciding that a red card would ruin a game between two too teams. Sorry, Michael but that's a bit beyond your remit of making sure you get decisions correct. Hopefully his assessors give him a stinking review as you can't give a foul for that second one without producing a second yellow. Being unable to do your job is spoiling the game

If that's at Anfield or Old Trafford that's a second yellow all day long. Guaranteed next foul Jorginho does its a second yellow.

You'll have players like Gusto and Curtis Jones looking at that and wondering what the fack is going on.

Kovacic definitely shouldn’t be on the pitch, disgraceful tackle and refereeing

That was pretty bad.

Mike Dean rambling on about ‘the law’ yesterday but it’s funny how many times the law doesn’t matter when it suits the ref.

The only plus points are at least we won't lose to 10 men and we have a good excuse when we let in 4 in the second half

First tackle was a red on its own.

It's no surprise our record is so bad against City we are always playing them with the ref on their team.

The game when Rodri should have been sent off two times over but remained on the pitch to score a late winner.

The one at the Emirate's the season before last we deserved to win but lost 2-1 and the ref gave every big decision against us to fak us.

Shocking tackle, red card all day. Every bit as bad as Curtis Jones last week if not worse.

Definitely worse he was unlucky his foot made contact with the ball first and rolled over the top of it.

Worse for me, as he dives in. At least Jones had the defence of staying on his feet (although I think it was red as well).

Imagine if Xhaka did that.
Oliver is corrupt. Very corrupt.

I think with the second he wasn’t positioned to see Kova’s right foot plant into Rice’s right foot. Had the ref been front on instead of side on he would’ve given a yellow.

Think it was the way Oliver was so over the top with the way he said no yellow that made the piiiiss boil more. Made it seem he saw it very clearly.

I don't agree with some who are saying VAR should get involved with calls like that, just think Oliver bottled it.

Quick shout-out to the ref in the Spurs game yesterday, a lot of refs would have missed the dive and a lot more wouldn't have pulled out a second yellow. That was a clear case of a ref being in a good position, seeing an incident clearly and being brave to make the right decision.

Another annoyance I have is when refs officiate "to the occasion". Don't see why a foul in a derby or a top of the table clash should be treated any differently to a foul in a game between someone like Fulham and Brentford. If there is that tolerance in the former then it should be there in the latter.

Yeah he was so adamant it was a collision of bodies

The second yellow for Biss is one of the better decisions we will see all season

Honestly, VAR can get involved with red card decisions. Well a second yellow card is a red card decision, so if there is a clear case for a second yellow that the ref has missed of course they should get involved.

Clear and obvious error? Yes.
Red card situation? Yes, clear second yellow.
Should VAR intervene? Yes.

Also VAR bottled the first foul, should have been a straight red. If Odegaard's studs are planted in the ground at the point of contact that's a potential leg breaker, we're lucky he's not injured and out for a long time.

Remember how the cant could wait to give Martinelli two yellow cards in a single action against Wolves some seasons ago.
If Oliver is our best referee, we are definitely in trouble.

Yeah, mad he gives the benefit of doubt and higher tolerance for 2nd yellow Sunday but back then he couldn't wait to get 2 yellows out. The fact it was a foul throw makes it worse.
