You can't just band yellow cards about for fouls.
-----------
This seems to be happening a lot, and then you get some weird random games when the bar is suddenly much higher.
The Arsenal City ref (Oliver?) does seems to let a lot go, which is fine, but then you get some refs who think foul = yellow.
I think that if you are going to give soft yellows then some sort of warning/last chance before the next one is right, unless that tackle is so bad that its an easy yellow - I would put Kovacic's 2nd tackle in that bracket, added to the fact his first one was an "orange card" tackle. He should have gone, no mitigating circumstances.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what I don't understand. People talk about consistency but PGMOL doesn't want consistency. They want games refereed differently and provide guidance stating such as well as picking particular referees for different games based on their refereeing styles. Most of the time in the big games, they'll allow things to go. In other games they'll throw yellows around like confetti.
To be fair , we should never expect a match officiated by Michael Oliver not to end in controversy. That's just what he does.

Said on another thread, a foul should be treated the same whether it is in a big derby, top of the table clash or Burnley vs Brentford. Reffing to the occasion shouldn't happen, the same level of leniency should be applied across every game.

There were worse tackles from both sides during the game but Gary Neville didn’t issue a command to moan about them
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Were there?
Not being funny Boris but Kovacic could easily have seen red for the first challenge alone. Definitely should have seen a second yellow.
I'm struggling to remember any challenges worse than those two.

Boris isn't very reasonable when it comes to MCFC.

The one that took Foden out in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half for starters.
It probably went unoticed because he didn't lie on the floor for ages like Arsenal players do when there's slight contact.
Kovacic definitely should of been off, I wouldn't of complained if he got a straight for the first one.
Its a shame all decisions aren't reported the same. Arsenal were very lucky to not have a red vs Spurs. It was highlighted but no way near to the scrutiny of Kovacic. Then there is Hwang, who should of been sent off before scoring the winner v City. It wasnt shown on ref watch, not reported in the media no outcry or injustice pointed out for City.
Gordon and Bruno both had similar games vs City for Newcastle that kovacic had on the weekend, heavy tackles that were given as yellow. They both did dodgy fouls on a yellow and could of been off but weren't. No headlines.
Gordon should have had about 5 yellow cards against City, Gary Neville wasn’t commentating on the game so there was no outcry
