Yes, wouldn’t the world be a better place if the leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu went off and settled it in a duel. But cowardice is surely the hallmark of most world leaders.

Another sad and horrific story. RIP 🌷

RIP all of the innocent men, women and children be they Israeli or Palestinian, the Hamas action last week was a war crime the butchering of thousands of innocent people subsequently, equally so. There is no excuse for what is happening there.

Thanks for posting this, Jonty. This last week has been dreadful for Israelis and Palestinians alike. The loss of life on both sides is an outrage against humanity. As a Jew, with family in Israel, I respect the diversity of our views on this forum and would ask that we are considerate of each other, without regard to race or religion. The events of the past week go beyond right or wrong, they are inhuman and we must, in our own ways, reach out to stop the slaughter of innocent people.

Farkness has clearly acknowledged that many of the victims in the aftermath of the atrocities on the 6th and thereafter have been Palestinian men, women and children. The longer this crisis drags on the more so this will be the case, as this is a football forum, in the name of balance, I have tried to find the Arabic equivalent of the Hebrew for "may his/her memory be a blessed memory", does anybody know it?

I have no great knowledge of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine but my gut tells me that Hamas have not only butchered innocent Israeli citizens but also used Palestinian people as human shields.

Of course the Israelis will be blamed for trying to route out the terrorists that did this whilst tragically killing innocent people - but they have allowed, those who wish to, flee the area under attack.

What happens over the coming weeks and months could have a huge affect on the Worlds stability.

If the US get involved and take their eye off the ball (was it ever on it under Biden?) then expect China to make a move on Taiwan.

For all his many faults Trump managed to steer clear of any wars during his Presidency.

Can I also say to one of our regular posters, Afridi, how sorry I am that this is happening to his people as well as ours? We do not know the truth of these events, and we may never know it, apart from the fact that thousands of innocent people have died. We must come together, not kill each other, to make this stop.

Stoopo, this is such a poor comment and just aligns to the hypocritical, double standards of some of the reporting in the west. How can people live comfortable privileged lives here and spread sh11t fake news diminishing people’s well-documented, internationally recognised gruesome deaths in besieged Gaza… have some shame and integrity.

They gave some warning - great, they warned hospitals full of patients to evacuate? Do the maths on that one. You can’t talk about this issue if you don’t know the history of it. Simple as that.

Thanks mate. Like every sane person in the world I am appalled by the ferocity of the Hamas attack on Israel. Terrorism is an evil, whether it is perpetrated by individuals, fanatical organisations or states, backed by other states.

Not sure why we can’t mourn or treat each individual with the same respect, dignity and honour regardless of nationality. It’s bonkers. As people have said above, the worrying times.

The elite on both sides increase their might / power / resources / wealth and couldn’t give to55 about the average man on the street

You have no evidence that Israel targeted and bombed that hospital have you? Reports suggesting it was a wayward Hamas rocket.

Hamas have no respect for Palestinians - they just want to wipe out Israel and all who live there and Palestinian deaths are just acceptable collateral damage to them.

History has nothing to do with terrorists murdering civilians in their beds but seeing as you mentioned it please enlighten me on when in history the Israelis did this in Palestine.
