I do like Gomes and agree that we might need someone more combative. I do worry that Gomes is, at times, too combative. I think I'm right in saying we have more yellow cards (and also possibly reds) than any other team. 6 yellows today.

Yes, comfortably highest number of yellow cards - 31, 4 more than next - Spurs. Not sure if that is before today, but 6 today won't help

How good was the move for the chance Neto hit over the bar? Loads of tricks from Hwang, Cunha and RAN to get the opportunity on the left. 1970 Brazil would have been pleased with that had it gone in.

South Korea, Brazil, Algeria and Portugal nearly combined for the goal of the season. Perhaps next week.

I’m going to be in Seoul for a short time next week as part of our wee Far East tour. Don’t think I’ll be joining the Incheon ultras though

Don’t think Seoul is anywhere near Great Yarmouth?

I don't think our first half performance was too bad tbh, but goodness knows what happened with their goal. Both Toti and RAN nowhere to be seen.

This system with 3 CB's suits us well. Kilman is more comfortable on the right side and it allows him to venture forward a lot. Dawson was my man of the match and was faultless throughout. Bournemouth allowed us a lot of space in midfield and I was impressed with Doyle when he came on. Neto was always a threat and again had an assist, plus unlucky with the shot that hit the bar. Hwang was ok and although Cunha scored a great goal, he comes too deep, too often imo. I would prefer him to stay forward more. He's very quick, but of late he comes from a deep position and runs out of steam at the crucial point. Sasa took his goal well and I feel he needs more minutes as his goals per playing time is 1 every 19 mins on the pitch.

So overall, a well earned 3 points.

By the way cinci, not sure where you got the idea that we were playing 4-4-2.

We started out with some bastardised version of it going on. It was fairly clear, and two sets of comms both picked up on it as well. What can I tell ya. I actually think it was supposed to be that weird one where one WB is tactically pushed forward more.......

Whatever was going on it wasn't working and Ait-Nouri and Toti were lost initially. Doc was carrying an injury incidentally and shouldn't really have been starting apparently.

Aston Villa on fire at the moment. Last 5 league games:
scored 15, conceded 4
Won 4, drawn 1

Shame.

Puts in to context what a good result it was against them the other week.

I fancy our chances of giving the geordies a game next weekend.

You either give Newcastle a decent game or you get thrashed this season. They've had a 5-1, 8-0 and 4-0 win this season already.

No surprise to wolfie to see Jimenez on the bench again tonight 👍

Our Gaz giving away all his tactical secrets on national TV .

Thought he came across well actually, interesting that the players are recognising that if they follow his plan they'll get success.

Can certainly see how he would come across well in an interview. Doesn’t lack belief in his ideas for sure.

No reason that he can’t be as good as any other manager in the premier, some of them that come in have reputations built in weaker leagues.

No doubt it looks to be a questionable decision by Bournemouth to twist in the summer.

posted on 24/10/23

Time will tell. Could be the next bright English manager or he could end up being full of shat and disappear 3 years from now. Still far too early to tell.

Bournemouth made quite an error though, that is for sure, twisting on a mediocre guy from Spain for no real reason.

Certainly appears to be in tune with wolfie on quite a few big calls.

Which can surely only mean one thing?

Yeah, we are doomed

Though, to be fair, I have no idea what big calls he is in tune with wolfie over.

A certain Mr O'Neil actually stated on MNF (Sky in the UK) that we started as a back 4 with RAN pushed up & Toti as left back - guess you don't watch too carefully on peacock then

Didn't know he had said that. It was fairly obvious early on. I shall await Wolfies apology.

He did, very clearly. Said he expected Bournemouth to play with a single pivot so thought pressing in a 442 would work best, however they set up differently and it left Gomes and Traore unsure on where to press, and led to us being exposed for their goal.
