He was getting (unwarranted) pelters from section of fans for his performances. From his perspective I guess, continue getting flak from fickle fans and under a badly organised ownership or experience a new country, different culture, be appreciated for performances and be paid better?
I'm sure he was torn at the time given how long that transfer dragged on. 🙂

I dont suppose that, as a Scot, he would be particularly attracted by the warmer weather 🤔

Does anyone know why Johnny Russell left us so unexpectedly? Like Heb says, we have certainly missed him.

We haven't missed him as much as he missed the goal

For what it's worth here's my take on the season so far:
At its start I felt we had a good enough squad more or less to guarantee a top three place. But Warne's plans were scuppered by several injuries very early on meaning that he has (apart from the first couple of games) not been able to play his preferred formation or work out what his best team might be.
Injuries now seem to be clearing up and, as I said on another thread, Warne should soon be able to play how he wants and work out his best team. The problem is that it is now too late to think of top two and maybe top three unless we put together a run of maximum-point games and Oxford and Portsmouth start to lose a few.
If we do come up to full strength and after say eight games there is no improvement I reckon gates will drop, fans will get really antsy and DC may feel he has to do something drastic. But I think it would take a serious downturn to make DC sack Warne. Sacking Warne (and his coaching team) would be swinging a wrecking ball through our budget so any replacement manager would have to be then out of a job. At present I can think of Warnock and Wilder (also a three-at-the-back man) but they could be in jobs by then.
In practice I do not think Warne and co will be sacked so fans must get fully behind the team and hope that a fully fit squad playing the Warne way will get us up to the playoffs. It may not be pretty but we'll have to suck it up.
By the way, welcome back Terry. Stick with us. We are a good lot really.
