Our diiiickhead owners have had years to make a choice regarding how we recruit players. Yet here we are.

Yeah we had better attackers under Ole. Our recruitment has been crap under Ten Hag. The fact we’ve given another manager a big say in transfer just sums up the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it’s only right that the manager has a say but maybe not all of the say.

We haven’t really bought much attackers under ETH though. Antony continues to underwhelm, Hojlund has promise but is young, is Mount even an attacker? He seems like a pointless signing right now.

At least Spurs have shown that even with a terrible owner the right manager can make a difference - especially when they inherit players who didn’t perform under the last guy.

There is a beautiful alternative universe where we signed Maddison instead of Mount

ETH now has Hojlund, Antony, Mount, Onana

He needs more from Rash, Bruno, Sancho, Martial Varane.

And stop doing temporary loan deals in key positions.

He either gets them all to work and build his team in time, some sooner than others... or they get sold. With the money we might get back for them he could buy some replacement players. If he still has a job.

They have never wanted best in class. They have wanted yes men.

Paul Mitchell will be a huge step in the right direction and that will only be possible because of Jim. No chance the Glazers ever appoint an actual DOF is there? They prefer their own stooges.

Bit rich coming from a Utd fan who want their owners out despite the amount of money they’ve allowed managers to spend. Up there with city.

And Spurs have had some similarities to us where a change in manager has changed their fortunes, albeit for a short period of time before regressing again.

It’s not rich if you understood why United fans want the owners out. If you have access to the internet it’s very easy to figure out why. In fact, you could probably work it out for yourself just by reading your own comment back to yourself.

I’m not convinced by the whole ‘yes men’ argument. They’ve had managers such as Fergie, Jose and Van Gaal who are complete opposites of that type of character. It’s incompetence, though I do agree they lack the desire for the club to be the best in class.

Let’s hope Mitchell can improve the recruitment, but I think the issue go beyond that because so many players come and get worse. It doesn’t seem like a particularly nice environment for footballers to come into. Especially when they’re paid silly money and can start coasting once they realise the mess they’ve gotten themselves into.

Maybe Eth said Maddison but our recruitment team thought it was Mount. Eth needs elocution lessons!

They employed clowns to oversee everything. The money they gave managers has never been the issue. I honestly don't know why people still say this like it's a good thing.

What good is having £200m to spend every year without a single clue on what to do or any actual plan? We have a squad bloated with players who all perform better in different systems. It's no wonder we are a terrible watch.

posted on 23/10/23

Just about have the squad for a top 4 finish, definitely the starting XI is good enough but that won’t last. Nice to feel good about the club for the first time since probs my the start of Conte’s reign.

Ange has made a few under the radar excellent signings. Vicario is a very good keeper, currently has the highest save % for shots faced, and is very good with the ball at his feet which suits Anges system. Mickey VDV is quality on the ball, 6’3” and good in the air and absolutely rapid. But also, his presence has allowed the real Romero to show himself. And finally, Maddison - great signing, say no more.

That’s it really, 3 signings (we’re yet to see Brennan Johnson property). What he’s also done though is make existing players better and start performing to their potential. Bissouma was one of the best central mids in the PL at Brighton. That clown Conte fumbled him. Ange now has him playing like Kante, ridiculous output. Sarr and Udogie are just kids but he’s got them playing like men. Porro is a wing back who’s been converted into an excellent RB, and he’s getting the best out of Son playing him through the middle. There’s a clear identity in how he wants to play, it’s very watchable, the players are playing with a smile on their faces and the fans are happy having Ange as the clubs figurehead as he comes across so well. Early days still but can’t praise the bloke enough.

This is the worst thing about the Glazers. They HAVE freed up money for managers pretty much the whole way through.

If only they had gone and got the best in class to run the club with a top DOF....we'd have probably saved millions on wasted transfers and been more successful on the pitch to boot.

This is their biggest failing. They left Ed Woodward to run both sides of the business for 9 years when it's clear as day he was only ever qualified to do the commercial side at best.

They don't know how to run a football club so they should have hired people who do know.

It’s not like a whoosh over my head at all. It was a comment deliberately made to provoke that kind of response in order to demonstrate a point; Utd fans get very precious about being called entitled for wanting big spending owners out, accusing others of not understanding the finer details of it (it’s the debt, it’s how they run the club blah blah) - but yet profess to know the in’s and out’s of other clubs ownership issues. Spurs fans aren’t entitled at all - we’ve won one league cup in 20 years of ENIC ownership and only Utd have had less direct owner investment than us, there are many justified avenues of criticism so how about you take a leaf out of your own book and not pipe up about things you evidently don’t appreciate the minutiae of.

The facking irony of a Utd fan calling a Spurs fan entitled is absolutely galling your pair of clueless priks.

Yes and I said criticising ENIC and wanting them out doesn’t make you entitled given their on-field track record over 20 years as owners - any more than Utd fans wanting the Glaziers out does given the level of their investment and litany of trophies won during their tenure.

posted on 23/10/23

I didn’t say that criticising them and wanting them out makes them entitled. I said it’s entitled fans that think they have terrible owners.
