Everton were one of the biggest spenders in the world a few years ago and are in loads of debt. Google it.

Yeah they're terribly run. The last time they spent serious money they sold Lukaku and bought like 7 attacking mids. They were actually alright under Ancelotti tbf.

Carlo leaving severely hurt them as did spending half a billion on dross.

Their youth system has struggled a bit in recent times to although a few will go on to have decent careers (Braithwaite) and Gordon looks increasingly a very good player, but they pretty much had to sell him.

Everton history is quite storied. A great old club.

But.

they won a couple of titles from 1960 to 1970, they won two titles in the 1980s.

thats 4 titles over 25-30 years. That's actually pretty good but its really 3 separate teams over 25/30 teams.

Since then they've won nothing really and before the 60s they won very little winces WWII.

Everton have missed the global expansion of football, in the 1980s they were the same as anyone else, ok regional some clubs were "bigger" but as of total we have global brands and regional brands.

Everton is a regional brand. Nothing wrong with that it just is what it is. They won't have the budget that selling stuff globally and global sponsorship brings.

If you view the great work Brighton have done and the terrible job everton have done under moshiri to waste all that transfer money then really thats the criticism.

We cannot critique or belittle a club for not being "big", but I think its fair to critique for wasting the resources they do have.

Everton were one of the country's biggest teams.

Sadly when they peaked back in the eighties, their progress was halted by the behaviour of Liverpool fans who got all clubs banned from Europe because of their neanderthal fans.

Everton never been the same since.

Yeah, because all other English fans were fackin' angels weren't they?

Leeds, 1975, Bayern.
United, 1977, St Etienne.

Even today, English fans in general are fackin' sccumbags.

I doubt if many Everton fans would agree but actually relegation wouldn't be such a bad thing. Okay financially it would be a hit but you'd fancy them to come straight up again so at least the fans would see dominant successful football for a change. They would then come up with renewed optimism.

The club just needs a change as otherwise it is just a slow death. Shame really as I'd rather Everton doing well than the likes of Chelsea who were a two bob club with an average history before Roman came along.

Some Spurs are arrogant, etc., but they definitely don’t have a monopoly on that, no way. Each club, from the PL has its own, self-appointed village idiot, and we are no different.

Spurs are defo in a good place, because of two items. No.1 - their manager, seriously berated by many prior to his appointment. Didn’t bite back, kept stum, let his team do the talking and, voila, currently top of the league! No.2 - the signing of Maddison. I think he’s playing even better at Spurs than he was at Leicester. Their aged striker, signed by Beyern Munich has definitely not been missed.

Everton - they too have their fair share of idiots. They are a classic example of spending stupid amounts of £ on players who aren’t good enough, they are the classic example of trying to buy success, overnight, and have failed abysmally.

Sympathy for the underdog? None from me, blame the owners and recruiting staff.

I think the issue i'm probably clumsily trying to raise is that they were historically such a great club with a large fanbase and have thrown away all that potential.

Hey i don't really care but it's a dull Tuesday at work so whatcha gonna do?

Not sure about now but my Everton fan mate said if they'd gone down last season they wouldn't have owned the stadium. That would really fack them for a long time

Everton haven't been a big club for a long long time. The only people telling you they are are the pundits who played football in the 80s

Yep if or when they go down they'd spend a long long time down in the Championship I reckon, Leeds style, would take a long time to rebuild for them

This is fairly easy to explain I think.

It is more to do with how Tottenham supporters behave, which is in stark contrast to how Everton fans do.

Spurs fans are arrogant, demeaning and belittling. Not to mention delusional.

Take this season for example, a relatively easy start and their fans think they're winning the league. They won't finish in the top 6! They really have been poor in so many games i've seen, only to be bailed out by pure luck or terrible defending. We battered them in the first game, yet the referee handed them the match. Not to mention, we weren't even fit.

Everton fans are very humble, polite and easy to get along with as fellow football fans.

Funnily enough if you ever go to Liverpool, you will be amazed at how nice Everton supporters are compared to fans of Liverpool Football Club.

I would say Liverpool FC fans are possibly the nastiest bunch of the lot; aggressive, cult-like and almost desperate to get violent just because you don't support their team or come from their city. Awful people. They stink of bitterness.

Who let this сunt back on here?

They remain one of England's biggest and famous clubs but, unlike Spurs who the media, fans and pundits take (justifiably) great delight in laughing at, Everton just don't get the same level of stick.

Because some Spurs fans are... Spurs fans. That's why.
