No worries Brother.
Yes indeed, of course.
Y u delete?
I didnot mention Nick Cave
Btw, I realised the IWOLY on Des O'Connor in 92 wasn't live so have changed it to a 94 performance.
Can tell by her throat when she sings it.
Looked into it, and it's apparently one of only 2 times she ever sung with a backing track, due to being pregnant (the other being at the Superbowl when they turned her mic off and played the recording she did a couple of days earlier which they told her would be used only in an emergency )
Some of the taste in music by some posters on here is out there but this is unexpected. Houston, we may have a problem.
Not the music so much mate as the singer. She was unbelievable.
Excellent post OP. I agree and will enjoy these later today

"I have nothing" is one of the greatest songs
after 16 years of waiting for a trophy.. or how ever long it is. " i have nothing" is an apt song
Thanks for the contribution. Yes a lovely song.
Until she lost her voice once the drugs etc sadly took her over, Whitney was mega consistent (basically perfect any time she sang).
But it's particularly about specific live performances which demonstrate her vocal talent and performance, rather than identifying a song as such.
I've spent a lot of time listening to recordings of Whitney Houston singing, so it was really just an opportunity to share some of the highlights I've found for others to enjoy. Of course though if there are other performances of her that people want to share then that would be all good too.
And of course that's not the limit of the conversation, and anything (ideally positive) about Whitney is welcomed.
I have a new favourite (well near favourite) moment since finding that IWALY yesterday (linked in the OP).
Not being a sound engineer I don't know why, but for some reason in that recording the crowd noise is disproportionately loud.
@4.00 she hits the chorus. At first you think, what a shame, with everyone in the crowd singing/shouting all at the same time it drowns Whitney out. She singing this so damn good I wish I could hear her.
Then about 3 or 4 seconds later......her voice just...rises up like a phoenix, above 40,000 others.
What is the point in being genuinely great, a genuine bi/tri-centennial genius, when it's forgotten 30 years later, and people would rather listen to or watch the latest dross instead?
What is the ****ing point in doing anything, when greatness of that magnitude is tossed aside and forgotten like yesterday's garbage?
I’d stay off the sauce if I were you mate.

That's how I felt when Jose got the sack. But you know what? I got over it.

I can't say any more, but I just got an email from the manager of one of the people I rate as one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
And he (the manager who emailed me) says he is a "dear friend" of someone I mentioned to him and who is probably in the top 5 closest people in the music industry to WHITNEY in her life time <OMFG>
Has anyone here ever had feelings towards Whitney Houston?

She was an incredible woman. Greatest singer of all time. Greatest singer/performer of all time probably at her peak. Humble, kind, amazing smile. I'm mesmerised by her at the moment.
