I didn't go but it was a horrible day. I was devestated, my first taste of bitter dissipointment and had to take the goading from my primary school mates on monday.

I remember we were favourites but alot of our players were unfit- Brady, McDonald, Sunderland. Alan Hudson played. We never got going, we were awful apart from O'Leary who was one hell of a centre back- people forget that, very under-rated.

I went to some of the games on the way. Wolves at home stands out, I was in the school boys and Bob Hazell got sent off after an unsavoury incident with Rix, he walked past the school boys and the vitriol and abuse he recieved made me feel sick. I quickly realised the schoolboys enclosure was not as young and safe as I first believed (or my mother believed), football was very different back then.

Ipswich were very good that day and Robson showed he was building something special.

I went to the Charity Shield the following August; what a day that was for the Forest fans, here's hoping for a repeat on Saturday.

And after that best wishes for the rest of the season to fans and players of a smashing club.
