Are you allowed more than one Achilles heel?

Defending deep and challenging Derby to break you down appears to be one of ours.

Just hope this year's budget isn't reliant on a cup game.

I blame me, I’ve been predicting losses and we win. When I predict a win it goes pear shaped. At least Heb predicts a win all the time.

Well I'm glad I was not able to listen to this one.

For those who were there, was this a case of most of our players, esp the midfield, being fatigued by Saturday's efforts?

No excuse, they're supposed to be professional.

Unless it comes as a surprise to them that they may need to play twice three days apart?

Crewe played something like 18 mins additional time in their game against Notts at the weekend. They also have a much smaller squad to pick from. 🤔

Well I think it was a valid question without suggesting a search for excuses. I think most of us have been demanding a more dynamic, aggressive, high pressing midfield but this last game maybe suggests we cannot achieve this twice in four days?

Well that was a waste of bleeding time. Ah well.

I thought he didn’t contribute much in the game to be honest …

We reverted to the tactics which have manifestly and repeatedly failed to work previously. Get it out wide, get it in. It is as if there is a belief that it is just a question of maths, that x% of crosses will result in a goal and that if a goal has not come it is simply because the required number of crosses has not yet been reached, so we must re-double our efforts in that regard. Ever we lumped it in, and ever they headed it away, or else the keeper caught it.

Hopefully it is a blip after the recent more encouraging performances but it was a depressing evening.

Have not seen any video of the game yet.

In his interview Wildsmith said that after going behind they were perhaps trying to get a cross in too early rather than being patient and trying to work something a bit more creative.

Warne in, out, shake it all about.

I'm ready for break tbh

It's a good point Jorv. I normally hate international breaks but this one comes as a relief. Not sure why Paul Warne defeats hurt so much:

- The cluelesness and speed with which we descend into aimlessness.

- The euphoric clouds of a club saved from death, parting, to reveal the ruins and barren lands on which we now have to rebuild.

- The uneasy feeling that we're capable of playing far better.

- The distant memory of free flowing football, Hollywood managers, optimism and unity in the face of the EFL v Mad Mel debacle, compared to the cold harsh reality of League One.

- The impatience to get out of League One as we look more and more like League One.

- The fear that maybe it's going to get worse before it gets better and we have no idea of how it's going to get better.

- The road looking longer and longer with each non passing match.

Upon what rock will we rebuild this church?

It's football though. Pearson got Leicester promoted, Cooper got Forest promoted, not all success is built on reason and rhyme.

Well at least the U21s are firing - 7-0 away at Huddersfield! Watched highlights on You Tube but picture quality appalling so I can't comment further.
