Edward Woodward the favourite to replace him as the Glazers see him as a trusted person to be the conduit between them and Sir Jim.

Why does anyone feel Sir Jim will be better. I don't think for a moment he will want to stay away, he will want to make decisions on transfers.

INEOS has announced that Jean Claude Blanc will join the INEOS executive team as Chief Executive Officer of INEOS Sport, beginning in February 2023.

In his role, Jean Claude will oversee all of the INEOS sports portfolio covering Football, Formula 1, Sailing, Cycling, Rugby and Running. In this he will work closely with Dave Brailsford who will focus on world class performance management. The responsibility for execution and delivery in sports remains with each sports team CEO.

Jean Claude’s extensive international experience in sports will help INEOS to develop their investments in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, OGC Nice, FC Lausanne Sport, Racing Club Abidjan and the INEOS Grenadiers cycling team, and INEOS’s sponsorship of the British Challenge for the 37th America’s Cup, the All Blacks rugby teams and the Eliud Kipchoge running team.

Jean Claude will be responsible for the development of state-of-the-art dedicated facilities for each of the teams that INEOS owns, developing their business plans and growing their global brands, as well as developing them into a global integrated Sports Group.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman of INEOS said, “I am delighted to welcome Jean Claude as CEO of INEOS Sport with his many years of experience across different sports. We have high ambitions for all our sports teams with a particular ambition to raise our standards in football and Jean Claude will bring an entrepreneurial and innovative flair to all our teams.”

Jean Claude Blanc declared, “I am very honoured and proud to join Jim Ratcliffe and his impressive INEOS executive team. I am looking forward to helping to build and further develop all existing INEOS sports assets and to guide, along with the INEOS Sport Board, each of the existing sport executive teams to even greater success.”

He appointed someone to overlook all his sports teams, but made it clear each club will be responsible for their own performance.

Cant see him being TOO involved.

That theory has little substance and is not a correct solution.

Sounds like to me he's going to be hiring a proper DOF with proper experience in the field to do that for him.

This is all the Glazers had to do but they refused. They didn't move with the times and thought we could replicate the Fergie era again even though football had moved on. If they'd have appointed world class football people 10 years ago we'd be in a much better state I'm certain of it.

I'm amazed the Glazers didn't see this. Amazed.

They could then have just sat back and let the club run itself. Their halfway house way of running the club has damaged it so much. Such is football though it wouldn't take a lot for us to get back on track if we get things right.

We have a director of football and have had people cover their responsibilities in 1 form or another for a while.

Looking at their statement re Jean Claude Blanc, INEOS intend for Blanc and Brailsford to work with all their sporting teams. They might have a lot of involvement early on, getting the set up right, but will then leave the club to run itself.
