I prefered GTA1 and 3 to the rest. GTA3 because it was the first installment in 3D which was quite a novel thing at the time. Plus I liked the mafia theme. With GTA San Andreas some of the gangsta stuff and dialogue was pretty cringeworthy, the aiming was poor and I just felt the map was frustratingly too large. That said, SA was the only one I played on the PS, as opPossed to PC for the rest - PC controls seemed better, particularly use of the mouse to aim.
GTA1 is a classic, still as playable today as when I was a kid, for it's simple birdseye layout mainly.
couldn't get into gta 1 after playing it for the first time after vice city. gta III was pretty good though.
GTA1/2 can be downloaded free from the developers offical website, it's well worth it to kill some time.
For PC?
Do you need steam or anything?
@Edinspur: Nope: http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/ there you go.
I used to love playing GTA3. Absolute monster of a game.
That along with Metal Gear Solid were games I spent many hours playing on.
Thanks Bunsen!
Youve now officially changed my predicted grade from a 1st to a 3rd
just played gta iv again and it is good, but san andreas kills it.
Did anyone ever play Episodes of Liberty City? Is it worth getting?
Looked dire tbh mate.
Saw someone play it and dont think they rated it
I tried Vice City stories, was absolute carp
anyone remember the haiti woman who gave you missions from vice city? i could do with some of her supply now...
<growyourown>
What about the Ballad of 'Happy' Tony and the other expansion pack? anyone played as yet?
@Denis_Law: Those are actually quite brilliant. If you didn't like the main story, they both introduce a little bit more of the bonkers stuff from previous GTA games, and some clever overlapping/interweaving with the main plot. Recommended.

Fair enough, I am planning to get them on the PSN but I was wondering about them. I would have liked them to continue from GTA IV though, based on the reports i saw it seems they are 2 different plots.
heeheehee
kentspur got the 69th comment...
Super bunny hop with the bicycle I remember that mission "Running Dog" - just you running after a guy and shooting him, lasts about a minute
anyone seen the trailer for GTA 5?
It almost looks like a sims game
I want to mess about on the golf course and annoy people
