I’m sure Kane will be over the moon to have that gobby little twaaat alongside him.
Harvey Elliott doesn’t even start for England u21s on the right wing as we’ve had more subtable options. He won’t be getting in the senior team for that position any time soon.
Did you see the after match interview with him and Salah? Elliott talked about how much Salah is helping and guiding him, and that they stay behind after training for extra work. Definitely looks like he’s being primed to take over when Salah eventually leaves.
Great impact sub at the moment where he really looks to do something positive and productive with great intensity. He's notably been very good in several cameos this season.
He doesn't seem to have as much impact when starting games at the moment so let's see how he progresses but signs are good so far and if not for that horrific injury he would have been more established by now I have no doubt.

Klopp doesn’t play him as a winger, though. Maybe a different manager might when Klopp leaves.

That’s because Salah doesn’t miss any games. The point is that Salah seems to be mentoring him, and I’m saying possibly to take over his role eventually.
He won't be a winger under Klopp. Does not have the out and out pace. Right midfield or 10 is his ideal position and he will grow into that role as he gets older and stronger
Only player his age I'd have over him is Simons. Harvey is a great technical player that offers something others don't.

He doesn’t play him there when he isn’t playing or gets moved centrally either. Salah is a brilliant professional, him mentoring him is a good thing but doesn’t mean it’s to take his position. Ronaldinho mentored Messi and they played on opposite sides of the pitch. It’s just what senior players tend to do.

Yeah maybe, I was just making a suggestion really. Doak is the more natural successor I guess, but we’ve not seen enough to be totally confident that he’s ’the One’. Elliott definitely has the tools to be a regular.
It’s difficult to predict how such important players like that will be replaced, might be that you’ll go out and spend big rather than relying on a youngster to fill the void.
Agree that Doak looks a more natural replacement, from the little I’ve seen. I think Elliott is a talented young player but looks more comfortable in the middle due to lacking that bit of pace needed to really excel out wide.
It’s one of the things I do dislike about the prem, though. It makes it hard for slower skilful players to excel. I think Sancho, whilst obviously having other issues, has suffered with this. He’s just not looked quick or strong enough to regularly beat his man out wide.
Can't believe there was Liverpool fans on here who doubted him tbh. Always been a fan and his talents been clear to see since age 15 when he played for Fulham? His loan at Blackburn for a player of that age was outstanding too.
ontop of the talent his attitudes brilliant he brings energy and work rate and hes always positive on the ball be it forward passing or driving forward with it. Came back from a nasty injury vs Leeds to boot. Hes a die hard Liverpool fan. Improved with his pressing angles etc hes learning and improving all the time. Bench has suited him as his energy and eagerness from it often pick us up.
his lack of pace and size he should be looking at players like Silva who also started out wide both of them tbf David and Bernardo would be great to study for Harvey and try to learn from.
I don't think Elliott will ever be a right winger. He doesn't have the pace. He was probably pushed out there as he was growing up due to his size. Everything you see in him suggests a playmaker with an eye for goal who can also work hard and get into tackles. He's a central player for me. Although he could probably play wide in a City team, Liverpool need pace on the wings.
I agree. he doesn't have the pace for the wing.
the MOTD analysis was interesting last night. It was breif but it just showed elliott seeing the situation and creating overloads.
Before he was one we were seeing no overlaods and our players just turning back as it went wide. When elliott was on then it was him adding another player to the mix with gomez and salah and just amking it hard for palace player to decide where to go and they couldn't commit.
That kinds of stuff then gets you in behind.
He’s a decent player but let’s not go overboard because of a decent cameo appearance
Great impact sub, but a way to go to be 1st teamer regular imo.

He’s been average all year. There’s a reason he doesn’t start. He’s talented for sure but the last year or so he hasn’t stood out at all.
last year hasnt stood out? last year he was one of few positives and won our player of the month a few times

Good grief What’s up Fred, is his name not exotic enough for you?
He struggled last season but then did the whole team. The main reason he’s struggled imo is that we’ve struggled to find the right role for him. Looks like we have this season and he’s thriving. If you can’t see that then I don’t know what to say….
I felt even befire yesterday that he had played well recently when coming on as a sub and last European game when he started.
